There's definitely more than one in westworld and I've heard game of thrones is a rape fest even to the point where there's a few rapes not even in the book. Haven't gotten around to watching it yet (the show not the rape)

There's only one scene that's out and out rape, but the show is full of politically motivated, begrudged, sometimes traumatic sex.

It might be an ongoing problem with GOT, but it's in no way a consistent HBO problem.

Cliff help to drive them into a more melodic area. He listened to everything from Bach to Kate Bush to Lynyrd Skynyrd to the Police to ZZ top. He force the rest of the band to listen to it to while they were driving along early on. Metallica do what ever the **** we want attitude came from Cliff. That was pretty much his attitude. He wore bell bottoms on stage! The fact that he was older (by a little)made them look up to him like a big brother. Without him they would have turned in basically Megadeath/Slayer: All speed no real melody. He pushed them to be more melodic and to use harmony more.

Ever heard any Megadeth albums, especially post-Rust?

I've got them all. I think Megadeth's shift post Rust was them trying to have Metallica post Black album like sucess. Shorter songs a bit more melodic. I should have been clearer that I was talking about what everyone was doing in the 80's with those albums. Metallica was evolving and Slayer and Megadeth sonically were staying they same for the most part. Kill em all was for the most part written before Cliff was in the band and with Ride you can hear his melodic influences coming through

Yeah you're probably right, I thought that scene with maeve and ed harris was rape but it turns out its not, but there was that scene where she got choked to death. Goodness.

Of all the bands you mentioned, Slayer made the biggest stylistic change in the 80s though.

As for Megadeth, their sound shifted plenty between Peace Sells and SFSGSW and then obviously Rust in Peace. Metallica just had a head start, they released 2 albums before Megadeth's debut.

Kill Em All has the biggest Mustaine influence, which faded away over time.

For Megadeth, Countdown and also Youthanasia are really good albums. It wasn't until Cryptic Writings that they kinda started jumping the shark a little. Use The Man is an awful song and Trust wasn't very interesting post 1997. Difference between SFSGSW and Rust was the chemistry. The Mustaine/Elefson/Freidman/Menza lineup is the classic Megadeth one. Peace Sells is a great album too, although a little cheesy. Megadeth was always big on the cheese, Captive Honor where he says "Life? I don't have a life!" that's been an inside joke in my inner circle of friends for nearly 22 years. Wake Up Dead is really funny.

Slayer, well because this is a controversial thread I really like South of Heaven/Seasons as my Slayer albums. Also, Bospath's drums on DI are my favorite metal drum recordings of all time. I don't really care for Reign In Blood. I mean, it's historic, but I prefer Slayer doing long compositions and the thrash aspect as part of the process.

Conversely, I think long thrash songs are mostly terrible. It just gets tiring and the guys from Metallica think they can still pull it off (they can't). Gimme 35 minutes of relentless riffage over 60+ minutes of whatever it is that Metallica has been doing.

South of Heaven and Seasons are 2 of my top few Slayer albums, easily. I wouldn't take a Slayer fan's opinion seriously if they hated those because they weren't 100% thrash. RIB is awesome to me, though. DI is fine and the sound is killer, but not much from it really grabs me.

Megadeth is largely like that for me as well, I can listen to them and enjoy it but few songs really get my attention. I always wished I could hear what others do and liken them to '80s Metallica, but I just can't. That said, I think Dystopia is one of their best. I love the newer, thicker sound.

I agree here. Always great to hear a good thrash song and then think, "That was only 3 minutes?!" An exception to this preference would be songs Creeping Death or Hell Awaits; those do not get boring.

I haven't seen all of his movies, but I also like Nicolas Cage in everything I've seen him in.

While I don't agree with some of Cage's movie choices, I loved him in movies like The Rock and National Treasure. Unfortunately I still haven't seen Con Air. If it's on Netflix might be something I seek out in the new year.

Don't wait for Netflix. It's a fantastic movie

Con Air was very good. I also liked him in Trapped in Paradise with Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey though, so what do I know...

Nicholas Cage from 1995-2005 had one of the best ten year runs any male actor in Hollywood had. Leaving Las Vegas started it, and The Rock along with Con Air made him an action star. Face/Off was also a tremendous movie back then.

The public opinion started changing when he did The Wicker Man and GhostRider, along with that YouTube video which put the compilation of him going nuts in every movie.

He's been kind of off the grid the last few years, but Bad Lieutenant was a true awesome underrated movie, and of course Kick Ass.

He'll only be 53 early next year so he's still relatively young. I don't think he'll ever be a true A-Lister anymore, but in 3-5 years if he does the right film, he can definitely come back like Michael Keaton circa Birdman, Clint Eastwood circa Unforgiven after many mid-late 80s flops, or Sylvester Stallone when he did Copland.

I think its actually pretty normal to say Nic Cage is a decent actor, that has had some real good performances, but who has also been in a LOT of terrible movies. Thats actually a very common thing I see.

Yes its also common for people to say hes a horrible actor but I have heard both of those equally.

I wish I could hear what everyone hears in Dystopia . Everyone says how good it is and for me it just sounds like another System Has Failed. It's a big step up from Super Collider, sure. But it just does nothing for me. Just from this century I easily prefer Endgame (top 5 Deth album btw), UA and even 13.

The Wire doesn't have any rape scenes.
Westworld had implied rape in the first episode but never again.
Game of Thrones has had single-digit rape scenes through its history as far as I am aware.

I think what you mean is nudity and sexual content.

It is $5.99 on Amazon. Do it, man.

That actually surprises me. I'd have thought he was in his 60s by now.

Yeah, don't provide anything of note. Just laugh.

I saw someone tally 50 rapes in the series, but that appears to account for mentioned or implied rape.

I was mainly talking about what we see in the actual show. It's not nearly that many as far as I'm aware.

Deal. Just a funny sentence to have read. Defending the amount of rape as not being too much. Just right, perhaps?
