Season 2 of Attack on Titan has me hooked again. I kinda know where they're going because I'm familiar with the manga but they've done a great job re-establishing the hopelessness, brutality, and dread that defined the first half of season 1 but was kinda missing after the Trost District arc.

I know the boring political stuff is coming but later but I'm really excited for where they're at right now.

I'm dragging my feet on signing up for Hulu because I want to watch Season2 and A Handmaid's Tale. Ugh, I'm going to do it.

The government should get a urine sample from Jinder Mahal and threaten to drop it on North Korea if they keep acting up. That's the most toxic substance on earth, they'd definitely come to heel if threatened with that.

With all the hub bub around it, I decided to watch Your Name. I think it actually has some limited showings in select US theaters, which is rare for an anime movie.

Anyway, it's basically a chick flick. The concept has been done before, but it was pretty well done. The animation was OK, I didn't think it was spectacular. It definitely suffers from a lack of character development, though. It really should have been a series, despite there having been series like it already. You don't feel connected enough with the characters because they don't have enough experiences within the short time (just under 2 hours) to really feel the way the creator is trying to make you feel. The two protagonists really needed to share more experiences to make what happened have more impact.

That said, it was worth watching. They did a damn good job sqeezing in the feels in the short time window. I'm not entirely sure why this is getting so much attention, relatively speaking, as I think other short anime movies deserve it more, but it was good.

Guardians 2 was very good, but something about the pacing just seemed weird. They pulled on a lot of threads in the first 30 minutes and it felt a little disjointed. But it all came together at the end.

And the ending, oh boy. That **** got pretty heavy. I wasn't expecting such a bombastic, doesn't-take-itself-seriously movie to punch me in the gut like that.

Completely agreed. Without giving any spoilers, I'll just say that I thought the first part of the movie was a bit clunky and the dialogue seemed a bit forced. The movie settled in quite nicely though and I really enjoyed it. I also think they were really ambitious with this one and hit it out of the park.

They're already making a third one too.

Just saw it yesterday and I enjoyed it. Agreed with both of you.

1 thing I will say is I hope they get the licensing for bigger more mainstream songs for the 3rd (similar to the 1st). The soundtrack is what made this whole series a success.

Oh and Gunn has stated he would like to make a Nebula spinoff movie.... please just NO.

I have zero interest in that character.

Patema Inverted was a pretty nice story. Good short movie. I thought Pale Cocoon probably did the concept better, with better animation, but I was satisfied.

WWE Backlash was really boring... but NXT Takeover Chicago was AMAZING. The UK title match was maybe the match of the year so far. Also, the ending is still tugging at my heart strings....

Was in Best Buy the other day and saw Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, I didn't even know they were making it! I never played the original so it's a whole new experience, really enjoying it so far.

Patema was alright. Didn't know too much about it going into the movie, but was surprised at how nice it looked.

I was more satisfied with Patema than Your Name which I had just previously seen. I'd agree that both were OK, but I thought Patema was better.

I agree, Your name was pretty overrated I think. Koe No Katachi just came out around the same time as Your name, and it was so much better than it too. One of the greatest anime movies I have watched in a few years.

Loved the original series...New one so far has been a bit too out there. I've enjoyed the Lynchian weirdness, but the plot needs to get a bit more linear. So far the show has been like a horrifying acid trip.

You just described the show Legion on FX and despite people claiming it was amazing, I couldn't make it past 2 episodes.

Well, for those types of movies, both Kimi no Na Wa and Koe no Katachi have a lot to live up to. I don't think anything has rivaled 5 Centimeters Per Second personally. To be honest, though, I haven't seen Koe no Katachi as I've read it's a bit more childish. I should give it a watch though.

In anticipation of the possibility of us drafting Nico, I thought it'd be due diligence to understand our go to "Nico Nico Nii" meme. Yeah, one episode into Love Live and I wanted to kill myself. I can't do it.

I can never understand those Love Live like shows... Drafting Nico and posting that meme whenever he scored would be amazing though. :handclap:

I've only watched the first two episodes of the new season, and I thought the second was just beautiful David Lynch madness.

****ing James HAD to come back though, didn't he
