I hope Kemps and Garland are staying. The other two won't be missed.
Kessel was our leading scorer last year, OEL our second best defenseman. Depending on what we get back, but what has been mentioned on these boards are any indication, they will be missed, especially OEL.

Calling OEL our 2nd best dman is like calling my ex my 2nd best wife.

That said, Goligoski was better than OEL this past season.

Goligoski was better for half a season. OEL cooled off and Goligoski heated up. I was done with Goligoski.

Defensively it wasn't close. Goligoski was better in every respect. The odd game where he passed directly to the opposition notwithstanding. A big part of that is his willingness to block 3x as many shots.

That's underselling his start, he was making bad decisions on a consistent basis. His shot blocking is great and he's a great partner for Chych when he's on, but he's so fickle every year.

He shook it off and got close to his career peak form in terms of GAR. Playing with Chych helps but he did his part.

Demers' slide, on the other hand, basically offset Goligoski playing better.

What ever. I was going to give a longer response but it would fall on deaf ears. You guys are blind in one eye and can't see out the other.

OEL’s stats, and play, were depressed by his Dline mates. With a competent pairing, he will look much better next season, here or elsewhere. I think he’s pissed about the way he was so hung out to dry last season.

I guess you paid as much attention to your ex as you have OEL.:)

Corrrect. This has been going on for years, not just last year.

He hasn’t exactly had victor Hedman on his right side but if you’re a defenseman making 8+mil you gotta show more than he has shown. Aside from his overall play it’s been his lack of spirit and leadership that has become particularly disappointing

Hmmm

Everybody wants Garland. All teams want him.

What can be had?

The Blues fans want to trade Tarasenko for Garland in a 3 way with NYR.

Lots of interest if BA wants a big shake up.

If Garland does get traded the return better be shockingly high.
If Kessel gets traded, right wing is not an area of strength. And if Garland also gets traded, that doesn't leave many right handed shots (if they even bother to shoot).
The odds of Garland getting traded borders on the highly unlikely. Rather trade a top prospect (or pretty much anybody not name Chychrun).

Nothing BA has said to this point indicates that Garland will be traded unless a team offers a ton for him. I just don’t see it.

Kessel, OEL and Kuemper on the other hand will go any day now it seems

With all the UFAs that need to be replaced and if you further change the roster that means all but a few forwards, 2Ds, and a backup goalie. That's a lot for a franchise with a bad reputation.

Great point. We have to replace so many parts even without trades. If we go trading Kessel and Kuemper for picks, nobody is going to want to sign here. I’m sure very few want to anyway. I think moving out OEL’s 10.5mil is enough to overpay guys slightly and make them forget about that one move. But if we hold a fire sale before free agency begins, agents won’t even return our calls.
