Connor Bedard is a good player but do the stats even matter ?
He's a pretty small guy, do you think he will excel in the NHL ?

I'm just comparing him to guys like Jordan Eberle or other players records he has beaten this tournament.
Good feat but the players records he broke aren't the best in the NHL, good but not the best.

Link here shows every record he has broken:

Great player but will he be able to compete with his size ? Seem like a small guy and might get run over a lot. Just my take. :)

He's a lock to be a franchise player, 100%.

He’s incredible but this is the world juniors, not the NHL. Eberle looked like a lock to be an elite point producer during his run too. His size will hurt him. He also tries to do too much and has looked bad in his own end or on turnovers.

Comparing Eberle and Bedard is odd considering how much better Bedard has been in the WHL at a younger age.

Eberle was 19 and a half, Bedard is 17 and a half, lmao.
Eberle is a middle 6 winger, not a generational player.

I see a Pat Kane type, elite 90-100 point guy career but I don’t see a generational superstar. More Marner than MacDavid. My opinion, not facts. You can’t sway me to think differently. I’m just stating what I think.

I think it’s fair to question Bedard being a generational player, but his size is not the reason.

The reason is you rarely see generational players.

Eberle was no where dominant like Bedard is right now in the WHL and in the WJC. Eberle was a late 1st in 2008 when he first played in the WJC, Bedard is not drafted, that’s even more impressive, he is not short at 5’10 and could easily ends up being 5’11 195 which is pretty fine in the NHL. He is a franchise center, top 5 in the NHL for years to come

It’s not the total thing but if Patrick Kane or Mitch Marner were 6’2, 220, would they be on another level as players? Probably, yes.

I don’t think he’s going to reach a MacDavid or Lemieux level that some on here are thinking.

I feel he’s much more likely a 100 point guy than a 150 point guy like MacDavid. You know the hyperbole is out of control when guys jump on me for comparing him to a guy who’s a lock for the hall of fame.

We won’t know until we see him in the NHL. But what he has done at his age is absolutely remarkable and unlike McDavid he has the clutch factor.

Agreed. Size has been a knock against a ton of players who have proved it to be a pretty poor argument, especially in today's NHL. He's 17. I wouldn't be surprised to see him grow another inch or so, plus put on adult strength.

I haven't watched enough of Bedard to be able to comment on his full potential. A lot of good NHL players produced well at the WJCs, somewhere like a PPG. Bedard has produced consistently and at a greater pace at 17. He has been great, and I think he's on pace to be a legit NHL superstar, and probably even a cornerstone of a franchise.

"Generational" too often gets confused with "superstar." I'd love to see Bedard be that generational player, but that's hard to say yet.

The league was really fortunate to get Crosby and Ovi at the same time, and both have had fantastic careers, but 2 generational players are pretty unlikely.

Jaromir Jagr had one of those records. Most points for a 17 year old at the WJC...Bedard has beat him by five points if I'm not mistaken and we still have a game to go.

23 points in 6 games (9 goals)
