World Juniors and barely outproducing another player his same age in an extremely weak WHL but people think he’s better going to be as good/better than Crosby or McDavid. Lmao.

I think he has an elite skill set but unless he grows another 2 inches and puts on some more weight he won’t be more than a MacK level talent, which is obviously still elite.

Even if you get a MacKinnon level talent with someone tagged generational, you're not really bummed out. MacK is only behind McDrai in total pts the last 5 seasons, was a hart runner up 2X and top three 3X, led his team in goals en route to a cup win, basically definition of a superstar and franchise C.

If Bedard peaks as a top 3 player in the world multiple times over, its not a bad thing. Sure some might expect more, but if the Habs took Bedard and he ended up as good as MacKinnon, I'd be ecstatic.

I disagree, Ovi was a great player back then and still is but most seasons averaged around a point per game, had a few really good seasons and a few less than a point per game seasons. Again, great stats especially consistently over 18 seasons but not considered in the generational talent category 10 years ago. Tons of guys that have produced the same but Ovi has done it his entire career and continues to which is basically what I said in the first place.

I'm guessing the first discussion about him being generational took place in the 2005-2006 season, sometime after he scored that goal when he was sliding on his back. Someone look it up. It was literally all we talked about in 2009 after the Pens/Caps series. That was 13 years ago, bud. This is not a new idea, or anything close to it.

He'll drop the 2nd round in the draft because he's so tiny

7 goals in two games in junior since returning.

He's going #1 AINEC.

He’s incredible but this is the world juniors, not the NHL. Eberle looked like a lock to be an elite point producer during his run too. His size will hurt him. He also tries to do too much and has looked bad in his own end or on turnovers.

Eberle was doing it at 18 and 19, Bedard is doing it at 16 and 17

These are 5 guys in the top 10 of scoring in the NHL since 2016. Bedard will be more than fine

Bedard seems to be less of "sure bet" than Crosby and McDavid in terms of the eye test to me. But he also seems to have more occurances of freaky statlines than either of them. The insane 15 year old season and insane predraft world jrs are both something that Sid and McDavid never sniffed. And people say he's not fast, has bad turnovers etc...some of y'all should have watched Gretzky. He was not fast at all and dished out absolutely TERRIBLE turnovers every game because he was so creative and willing to try different things. Bedard seems to have a bit more of that Gretzky X factor than either Sid or McDavid.
