Connor Bedard is -84 throughout two seasons…Worst in the NHL

I feel like so many people just disregarded everything about Bedard and just focused on his junior point totals and automatically assumed this guy would kill it in the NHL with zero issues.

People really underrate players ability to translate their game from one league to another.

The Hawks completely shot themselves in the foot and have embraced a losing culture. They are no where near seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Watch them pass up on Schaefer to take Misa cause they already have so many d specs 🤣

Would be another foolish move.
They'll take Matone instead, watch.

Hes got 2-3 years to salvage things.

Can he become a Mackinnon and fix the path of his career? Or will he be a RNH type 1st OA

Comparisons to OV/Crosby/Mcdavid are correctly dead.

He has a lot of flaws in his game. He needs to work his ass off to become a superstar
At least RNH wasn't drafted with the hype that he'd be a McDavid/Crosby type player.

Ahhh the weekly thread burying Bedard. His team is absolutely atrocious. He’s 19. This is getting silly. Patience is not a common trait around this website.
but the Blackhawks arent a good team. thats the problem.

He’s going to get much much better anyone that believes different is being bias or doesn’t know what they are talking about m. He’s young and works his ass off. They have many prospects and all should start improving. Chicago is a top place to play and as they get less terrible people are going to want to play there. It’s going to take a bit of time, but Bedard I bet has a fanastic season next year.

I love your profile picture and I love seeing you a Ducks fan who is also in a rebuilding competition with the Blackhawks, defending Bedard and telling it like it is!

cheers

As for my thoughts on Bedard, the more adversity the better! He's going to be a dangerous player I'm positive.

Took Daigle 20 games longer to go as low as Bedard’s current -84. Those Senators were so much worse.

4 games left now in the season, has played 10 games more than last year, still 2 goals and 1 point shy of matching his rookie numbers. As disheartening as it is to witness, it has to be absolute hell for him.

Hope he has the resilience needed to break out of this over the next few seasons. Takes a special kind of mind and player to overcome the insidious effect this type of losing has.

His size will always be a problem..

So will his foot speed. The kid is not an NHL center in today's game. That shot is amazing and his ability to create passing lanes around the danger areas too, but he is not capable of recovering from any mis-step and some of his dangles are forced. Playing him at center is the biggest disservice followed by who he is playing with and how often.

At least a record he can chase!
Good luck Connor.

A couple games and he cracking the top 200

Him and Ristolainen (-179) are the only two active players with a realistic chance at it. (-257)

Go get it!

That's what happens when someone is overhyped as "generational" and then people finally get to see him play against real talent and people realize that he's not.

I've said his best-case scenario is Brayden Point, and I stand by that. He'll need some help to get to those heights though.

Way way too soon to be declaring anything about Bedard. He has been put in the worst situation possible. I was sad for him when Chicago got that number one pick because it was obvious this supremely talented kid was going to a shit show team that is behind the other rebuilders. No way I'm throwing any kind of shade at him given his circumstances.

Trying to play him as a center might be the wrong move. If he can be more creative on the wing like Kane or kucherov put him there. Might be trying to jam a circle into a square hole.

I can't help but think Bedard is in the same situation as Eichel in Buffalo.

I just don't see how the Hawks climb out of the basement anytime soon.
Without a trade, Bedard is looking at spending a majority of his career out of the playoffs like Larkin.

We know how good Eichel is now. Dude is a f***ing beast. But he can't do it all alone.

The thing is his calling card is his shot/goal scoring. He's being miscast as a playmaking center. He could use a guy like Matthew Tkachuk that can do the heavy lifting as a playmaker and put him into a position to succeed as a scorer.

Chicago burned the team to the ground. I honestly as a pens fan I worry that we may be next in line for such a disaster.

Traded Hagel away for picks. Imagine him playing beside Bedard.

This team is a tire fire. The exciting part is the prospect pool is amazing and lots of young talent. Just have to hope enough rise from the ashes.

I don't think Bedard is looking to leave. I am just not signing 8 years. Bridge deals of 2 to 5 years ( 1 UFA) is what I would do. Then renew if the team looks good.

Definitely not a Chicago fan but I just like to call it as I see it. He may or may not be generational. It’s a pretty tough thing to live up to. He didn’t come out and claim he was. The hate is getting over the top as a 19 year old. He’s a very motivated hard worker with elite talent. He’s going to be a dynamic player it’s just a matter of time. I’m also getting annoyed more and more with the way this board things every player under 23 sucks if they aren’t dominating yet. The lack of patience is unbelievable. That includes the Ducks board. Many of our fans were ready to call Leo and Mac busts at Xmas time. It’s craziness.
