Connor Bedard is -84 throughout two seasons…Worst in the NHL

He looks lost out there. As I have said before, Chicago needs to trade for Sid and put Bedard on the wing. Then let Sid mentor the kid.

They also need to insist on Bedard going to the World Championships in Sweden - let him go into the Fall coming off a high and feeling confident.

I seem to recall almost everyone in the Canadian media labeling him generational.

There was a poll after he got drafted, that asked whether you’d take Bedard with his friendly contract over McDavid moving forward. McDavid won that poll, but the consensus was that by year 5, Bedard would be out scoring a 31 year old McDavid. Bedard has plenty of time to figure out, but the hype was out of control.

Sad story. I still remember watching him play for the first time at this level - it was so underwhelming.

He can still be a good player with a better cast around him, but he won’t be a superstar. But I hope that he can prove all his critics, including myself, wrong though.
 
There is a ton of blame to go around....

* The Blackhawks are a horrible organization and they had no plan for Bedard once they realized he was NOT Sid or McDavid and he could not carry a team.
* The Blackhawks have screwed up a ton of prospects.
* Connor needs to up his game. He needs to swallow his pride and move to the wing - even if it is only until he improves.

I disagree. He has issues but he could be a perennial 100 point player. After all, he's going to finish with 60+ points on what is, at best, an AHL team. Remember he is 19 and he has ZERO talent around him.

Sid and McJesus couldn't carry their teams either, though. It's when they got some support it started to look like they carried their teams, and even then it was obvious they had another supertars along with them. Bedard doesn't have any superstars on the team or even stars.

You are preaching to the converted. I love the kid and he has a TON of upside.

The Blackhawks left the kid out to dry. They gave him Corey Perry to play with. Nothing else. Now, I love Corey Perry but Perry's an old SLOW players, well past his prime. What did the Blackhawks expect Bedard to do? Unless Bedard was Superman, he was not carrying this AHL team to victory.

Trade for Sid and put Bedard on his wing, then watch Bedard explode.

Bedard is great and should have a HHOF career. Will he be this generations Dionne? Great offensive player stuck on really awful teams.

Two out of three of those seasons he was top 10 in scoring, though.
That’s what showing one’s upside is, by the way.
Sakic played on a putrid team that was relocated soon after. But his offensive game was there starting from his second season.
