Bedard is genuinely unbelievably clutch. His entire life, he has never failed to come up big in the big game. Not once. Not a meh performance on his track record. He always brings it.
seems like he has that Kane clutch gene in him but also comes with the Toews/McDavid/Sid hockey mindset and work ethic at a young age that you need to dig a franchise out of last place and lead to cups, best of both worlds really

He’s incredibly intense about training in a way that to my mind only Sid can compare. There are tons of articles out there talking about how much work he puts in if anyone cares to read them - this is not an elite prospect that you’re crossing your fingers and hoping will put in the time to blossom. It’s a guarantee with this kid.

It's fully bizarre, but I have no control over you posting here or not.
Is it really so bizarre that I was initially disappointed the pick went to Chicago when I was hoping he would go somewhere where he could step onto the ice with elite linemates?

Either way, now I’m hoping to follow along the growth of this kid and his team for the next 15 years. Cheers.

It's kinda odd to be posting on the Blackhawks board while simultaneously dragging the team and not expecting the locals to give you some side eye.

Yes. He was the consensus #1 pick. Just about anywhere he was landing he had very good odds of not having "elite" linemates. Or even very good ones. Bad teams get the best picks because they're bad.

I mean, when the regulars here see you dragging the shit out of the organization on the main boards, then you come here acting all sweet and innocent, you would think you'd expect some backlash from the community you're attempting to join...

I never attacked the organization. I was not part of the crowd suggesting that Chicago did not “deserve him” - and is it not objectively true that he’ll have less support next year than if he went to Anaheim or elsewhere? It was an emotional reaction to the disappointment but now that I’ve taken a breath I’m excited about the potential for Bedard to really take the reins of what will surely be “his” team.

At the end of the day if you’re a solid poster then it’s cool. But this is a smaller board. We all have been in here a long time. Some joined when I was like 7 years old. It’s not “personal” but I tend to think this board is a little closer than most.
Love it. I hope to get to know you all and become part of that eventually. As is painfully obvious to all, I’m a very (overly?) passionate fan.

Edit: Anyways, now I feel like I’m hijacking the thread with something irrelevant, so I’ll show myself out for the night. Go celebrate, guys. This could honestly turn out to be the biggest day in Blackhawks history - a crazy thing to say about an O6 team.

So happy right now. Wonder if we can use the cap space to get additional 1sts and trade up.

We were bad this year but as long as we don't whiff on all of our picks our stables are going to be loaded with young talent.

We have a boatload of 1st-3rd rounders the next few years plus good prospects like Reichel, Nazar, Korchinski, Del Mastro, & Comesso

@Dominance its a paradox because the roster is not talented because they stripped it down to maximize their chances at bedard, so he's not coming into a lot of talent now but they have a ton of picks and cap space to add when they're ready, theoretically speaking he could've came into a team with way more talent but they dumped it all for him so it is what it is, thats what they had to do to compete with the real tank commanders they kept losing to year after year

I mean...

Just insanity. There’s not a single player on that team anywhere close to qualifying as a top-line forward or top-pair defense. They don’t even have a top-20 prospect pool. The NHL just f***ed Bedard to an unbelievable degree.

f*** this f***ing league. Unbelievable. ANYONE but Chicago.

They’re an AHL team whose only prospects worth anything are realistically 3+ years away from being an impact player. When Bedard scores 50 points next year while struggling with being forced into the 1C role and smothered by every team playing with Athanasiou and whatever washed up veteran the Hawks sign for the other wing and getting feeds from the corpse of Jones and whatever 6D they play beside him, this thread will be unbearable.

Oh, f*** off. What remotely quality player is going to such an awful team that has genuinely zero chance of competing even with Bedard? Obviously they’ll sign some guys, but there will be no one to take an ounce of pressure off him.

Some of these were within the last hour and 15 mins or so...

I'm not saying don't post here, and as one of the bigger assholes in this community(just ask around), I could be giving you much more shit, but I've seemingly mellowed quite a bit over the last few years, so feel free to contribute all you like. Just don't be a douche.

You're fine. No need to take off. I was just curious, and you had to expect some backlash when people saw it on the main boards, and had to expect to answer some questions. :thumbu:

@TLEHMANN pretty much said it. This is a relatively small, close-knit community, that the majority of the regular contributors have been together on here, and have known each other for a very long time. Many of us have actually met in person before.

I don’t disagree, but it’s not simultaneously. Only immediately after the lottery. I was disappointed; now I see the potential.
This post is sus.....
