Maybe it is fixed now, but when MLB Network does live check-ins on games being broadcasted by Bally, the score isn't visible because the MLBN's ticker is blocking it.

That useless solid gray bar at the bottom also doesn't go entirely to the bottom; it stops one or two pixels from the bottom of the screen, so a teeny amount of whatever is behind the scorebug is visible. I was watching a game last week and would occasionally see a white line at the bottom. It was the ice.

The biggest complaint I see on HF about NESN is the ticker

I'd say Altitude has the best one but add a small shots window for each team. I'm use to SN but after looking at the others, it could definitely be smaller. NESN isn't bad if you add shots.( forget it. Forgot about the ticker). Yes, Bally's is the worst. Others are fair.

Side note: is that the same Bally as the Exercise/Pinball/Arcade company?

It's complicated

Bally Manufacturing - Wikipedia

Properties include Twin River Casino Hotel (Lincoln, RI), Tiverton Casino Hotel (Tiverton, RI), Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (Biloxi, MS), Casino Vicksburg (Vicksburg, MS), Dover Downs Hotel & Casino (Dover, DE), Bally's Atlantic City (Atlantic City, NJ), Casino KC (Kansas City, MO), Eldorado Shreveport Resort and Casino (Shreveport, LA), Golden Gates Casino (Black Hawk, CO), Golden Gulch Casino (Black Hawk, CO), Mardi Gras Casino (Black Hawk, CO), and Arapahoe Park racetrack (Aurora, CO). This reminds me of the absolute necessity to make the boards transparent so you can see what's going on. It should be an absolute no-go to not being able to follow the play on some parts of the ice.
Remove the guesswork for the (tv) audience.

If you're sending feedback to Altitude, tell them to colour code the team names properly.

(god knows where this picture is from but you get the point)

Altitude always used the home colours for each team, regardless of what colour of jersey the team is wearing. Colorado vs. Arizona games are a great laugh in particular.

They are all fine except Bally.

The scores update is so annoying. It was a cool stuff in the 90’s, but there’s a thing called internet nowadays where I can easily find out about scores, stats, standings, etc.

It's even worse than that. Some people want to watch a game later, because you can stream it at any time after the game has been played. Thanks for the scoring update mid-game from a playoff opponent..

Take me to the Ballyyy!

That thing is hideous, looks like an phone app streched to tv screen. They even managed to make shootout graphs more confusing than they should be

Damn, I'm pre coffee.

I got a little confused at the AT&T advertisement wondering which player (that I had never heard of) was announced to have been injured during the game... and then I had to laugh at myself.

Bally is trying to reinvent the wheel for something that literally nobody ever complained about, and made it worse.

What were they thinking?

Now that Bally has introduced their new graphics package I would like to see how fans like or dislike the various score bugs used around the NHL.

NBC family - NBC, NBCSN, NBC Sports Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington and California

Same template used on all NBC outlets.
View attachment 423163

SPORTSNET - Canada, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto regional

Same template for national and regional games
View attachment 423175

TVAS uses the same template in French
View attachment 423196

TSN - Winnipeg, Montreal, Ottawa. Toronto regional
View attachment 423215
RDS uses the same on Ottawa and Montreal French regionals
View attachment 423217

MSG Network - Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Sabres
View attachment 423197

Bally Sports - Arizona, Detroit, Florida, Midwest, North, Ohio, SoCal, South, Southwest, Sun, West
View attachment 423208

AT&T Sportsnet - Pittsburgh, Vegas
View attachment 423211

Altitude Sports - Colorado

NESN - Boston

I work behind the scenes on NHL games and free lance graphic operators tell me that MNC and MSG are the best to work with and the now retired FOX was liked as well.

NESN is considered the worst along with AT&T but the latter at least includes logos.

I work as a camera op and this year there is only one video feed coming from each arena and Bally has become a headache for lead cameramen. A friend in Chicago who is the lead camera at the United Center fumes he now has to put making tape on both the top and bottom of his viewfinder.

I am curious on all of your thoughts as viewers and I will send feedback to people at each network.

90% of the time, the MSG bug doesn’t have that extra info bar (in this case, Chara’s shift time). It’s just the logo, teams, time and score. They’ll expand it when it’s not 5v5, when they’ve got that extra info, or sometimes for a mini ad.

I really have no problem with the NESN scoreboard, it tells me all I wanna know. I guess I wouldn't mind SOG but it's not a necessity.

The ticker is a f***ing abnomation though and it's insane that Bally has managed to come up with something worse. I mean, you really have to try to manage that. And someone said it's especially bad for hockey, which may be true, but it's also horrendous for baseball.

I think that I prefer all of the Canadian ones. The American ones (i.e. NBCSN, Fox, Altitude, NESN, MSG) are offset too far from the edges of the screen. It's as if they think that we're still using tube TVs and they need to account for large bezels and curvature.

I prefer the Sportsnet bug...has both team names and logos/colors, shot counters, it's nicely centered and thin enough to be up and out of the way, it only covers the fans or player benches and never the action on the ice, and it stands out enough from the busy background to make reading the info presented quick and easy.
And please...no annoying tickers showing spoilers.

one problem with bally is not showing the lineups and d-man pairings of both teams just after the puck is dropped in the first period..

other channels show this and fox (RIP) would show the lineups..
