That's on me, I should have said "a successful season and trip to the ECF". And yes I do believe that the inject of all those guys assisted in the change we saw between the 21-22 team and the one that came before it. It certainly wasn't all just on them, but a team is the sum of it's parts and those guys (less Blais, but even he helped set the change in tone early) helped shape that team

My view of the game from the chase bridge:
-Our goalie was f***ing terrible. Lets get that out of the way because it is scary to feel like it's Shesty or bust no matter what.
-Kakko, Krav, Blais I thought all played pretty well. Sammy is a difference maker when he's on the ice. Really underrated skill. I think Krav is going to be an effective player, it may take 20 games or so to get fully rolling. Kakko is such a good 200 foot player. It's kind of unreal. I know he still makes some dumb/bad decisions offensively, but its less and less.
-Kreider was f***ing terrible. Just a really bad start to his season. He looks completely ineffective out there.
-Key has had better games.
-Overall, the boys looked one step off. Nothing was clean and crisp like we saw in the first couple games. They're in a funk, and lets be real, the big guns are rolling into town Tuesday night. If they play like they did tonight, it will be a slaughter.

They ran into a hot goalie and Halak has been off to start the year. My prediction was Domingue and Garrand see time this year because Halak is going to be Pavelec 2.0 for the Rangers.
Crowd was off today. It's a combo of the early start, football teams on, and Yankees anxiety.
It's still very early. We all remember how bad they started out last season and that road trip woke them up.
Poor Chytil this is like the third time in his career he's been knocked into by a guy.
Vesey in next game. I'm curious if they bring Rhydal up as an extra center for the road trip.
I'm on vacation and another maybe another work trip so I'll probably get to tune into 3 games at most the next few weeks.

Hopefully Chytil can get back soon and it’s not too serious. Not only for the team, but for him too. He really started to look like he was putting it together and another injury sucks.
As for the game overall, it sucked. Need more urgency in their game overall. Too much hesitation and tentativeness. Kreider looks like a ghost, he didn’t look this bad at any point last season. It’s not just not scoring, he’s floating and basically a hindrance out there a half the time. Need much more from him.
Overall, lots of poor decisions with the puck and a lot of overall sloppiness. This wasn’t as bad as San Jose but you still want more from them.

Oh and Trochek was bad tonight. I know he's just getting his legs under him with his new teammates, but I don't like a lot of the decisions he makes. He needs to get to the net more. He needs to stop cutting so far to the outside with the puck like he's Artemi f***ing Panarin looking to dish the puck. We don't need him to do that. At all.

You're right. It's selfish of them to be better at passing than everyone else. They need to play more like "lunchbox" guys Reaves and Carpenter. Set an example.

Panarin is too elite at too many other things. You take the very, very, very good with the little bit of bad.
Would be nice if a guy like Zibanejad could step up but even Sidney Crosby doesn’t have multi point games every night (McDavid might…. But he’s not McDavid and no one else is).
Kreider pulling a disappearing act. He will still get hot and get his but this is why the guy should be moved at some point soon. His raw stats will trick a team into overpaying yet other than last year when he was hot the entire season, he goes through too many stretches where you can’t rely on him.
Trocheck is ok, but he’s another guy that if the elite scorers around him aren’t doing the heavy lifting he isn’t gonna drive any line himself. Which is kinda what I’ve been pining for.
Kakko is right there but the poor kid just can’t score. He had a perfect assist pass to Lindgren who couldn’t finish and then he missed a tap-in goal himself. I’m still not trading him or moving him for anything less than a massive overpayment but the guy has to figure out how to take the final step.
Lafreniere, where are you dude? You had that nice two assist game but other than that, what is going on? One goal in 6 games. Gotta pick up the pace.
Kravtsov was fine. He had a good game. His future may not be superstar. Oh well. He wasn’t a net negative, let’s continue to see where this ride goes.
Fox is still Fox. A point machine. Lindgren needs to be paid and then deployed in a manner where he doesn’t have to be stapled to Fox. Key is still growing. You live with the off night. Trouba is his usual non impact self except for two games where he KO’d two opponents. I love that $8m dead weight. Seriously I don’t know how people continue to justify his paycheck. Schneider and Jones are gonna have growing pains but we should have enough big guns to get through those pains. If a Jones turnover means you lost then someone else didn’t do their job.
Reaves and Carpenter need to be gone. Rydahl and Vesey need those spots. Today. That line is garbage like any sane person knew it would be. Othmann can’t claim a spot in that top 9 fast enough so we can actually have a decent fourth line featuring Goodrow, Blais and Vesey/Rydahl.

Seems like a bit of overkill to have our backup goalie playing 33% of the games so far.
Finally, we need more forward talent. Don’t trade away asset hauls for rentals. More long term core forwards are needed as we continue to see again and again re: our depth.

We were shit. Only goal was 5-on-3 if I can recall and almost every line sucked.
Eleven goals conceded in the last 3 games so “sumfink“ is deffo up with the D (and our forecheck, so sharp during the playoffs, has evaporated).

We need to pressure teams instead of sit back which is what we did today. The first couple games we pressured, we looked like the fastest team in the league, why we got away from that i dont know. Hopefully its not something that sticks.
I also maintain that Panarin should play with Zib, both players are confident enough in their own abilities they wont defer to each other, a problem that both Kakko and Lafreniere have with those guys. Kreider moves to rw and the 2nd line is Laf Trochek and Kakko...3rd blais chytil Kravtsov...vesey goodrow Reaves/whoever. This needs to happen
