I'm sorry, but this needs to be said.

With Kravtsov returning, I was told to expect a grand spectacle: something akin to Odin duking it out with Zeus, with Jesus acting as special guest referree...in the Budokan!

I was pretty much expecting something like this:

But instead, we were treated to this!!!

Oh, and Halak!

This is what their third game in six with 11 forwards? That doesn’t help. Also, really don’t understand the decision to start Halak given Igor was rested and they have a back-to-back coming up.
I was a little surprised but I get the rationale too. Tuesday is against the defending Stanley Cup champs, Wednesday is a divisional game with a 4 point swing against a team you may be competing against in the standings. Igor does the back to back and you hope Halak is solid against a team on the 2nd end of a back to back in less than 24 hours that hasn't played well with their backup. It blew up in their face though.

I don't think there's a chance in hell Igor gets both games. Has he had both games at all last season. If that's the thinking it's more defensible.

I'm not going to go full snowblind after 2 games.I love Chytil, but the kid misses more time injured and it kills his seasons.Freak injury I know, but he's still injury prone.our entire 3rd pairing basically gives the opponent power play time..that's how much they get hemmed in their own zone
No, that was a dirty sneaky elbow by Sillinger. They should ask the league to review.

Certainly the Coach who only has 12 months left on his average shelf life will have a rational and reasonable explanation for this, then concoct some way to fix it.

I would be genuinely shocked if he doesn't get both. They have another back to back on the road against out of conference teams over the weekend which you know is being split. There is no way Halak is getting 3 of 5 games at the start of the year when they've barely played.

Panarin, Kakko and Kravy made an effort.

The Vets are off to a slow start again. Same story as last year. I'm sure they will get going, but the Rangers need to start stealing wins to bide the time otherwise they will fall behind the eight ball quick.

Schneider looks raw. Laffy looks lazy. He's probably the most troubling.

Blais gets 20 games from me, but I see where this is going.
If Blais isn't hitting anyone, he's completely useless. And tonight he looked like he was allergic to contact, probably because he wants to stay in the lineup.

Not ready to turn on GG but that should have been Igor’s game

Idk maybe he had the shits again
I’d consider sitting #4 for a game

With out those two softies and trocheck actually doing something we lose 3-2

I'm not really going to waste time overreacting to the results of game 6, but I genuinely don't get why they got so in their head about how they played defensively after the first 3 games. They were playing with so much more pace and were way more assertive with the puck, and it made it really hard for teams to defend them. They should've kept that style going and let the rest of their structure fall into place. :dunno:
They were bleeding HDSCs. Then they were asked to focus on D. They probably overdid it and it stunted their offense. They need to find a balance. They were very much in the game. Tarasov stole some and Halak's second GA was really a back breaker on a bad angle shot.

Look, we had a bunch of early offensive zone time, plenty of shots -- but what this team has reverted to is a team that can't win an important board battle, can't get to the middle of the ice. Can't get screenshots or rebounds, can't get any greasy goals. Can't knock their opponent around. And it's just really soft hockey that won't cut it if we want to be serious playoff contenders and beyond. With so little power play time in this game, the team's softer style of play was apparent. It's fine to have all the skill in the world, but if you're losing little battles, if youre not getting in the goalies eyes, if you're not intimidating your opponents other than with your skill it's going to be a long season. Despite what was significant offensive zone time in the first two periods, we were mostly kept to the outside. There were no deflection shots, not many dangerous rebound chances. You can see it in Kakko and Laffy -- when the team adopts a softer pass-pass-pass style they immediately defer to the perimeter vets. They give up the puck to easily instead of using their size, youth strength to attack. Say what you want about Chytil and his injuries, the kid actually attacks the center of the ice and pays for it. He's the only one most of the time and it's a shame when this also includes 5v5 Kreider who is just terrible at creating chances coming off the wall with possession. Tonight's game was reminiscent of Czechmates brand hockey. A bunch of Petr Nedved's ain't gonna get you into the playoffs. or through a round in the playoffs. These guys need to pay the price and make some damn plays. Or we need to shakeup the makeup. Or we need someone more Torts-esque.

It's Gallant this is the guy started Georgiev the first game of the season last year. Smartest guy in the room.

Kakko doesn't look out of place in the top six. We need more out of Lafreniere.

Maybe it's just a nothing sample but I was surprised how unskilled Trocheck looks live. Can't pass, can't shoot.
can't receive a pass either.

i can't bear another 12 months

Agreed.Just the thought of that piece of shit anywhere near this team makes me sick

Not from what I saw
The overhead shows Chytil skating into Sillinger and coincidental contact. Another angle from the corner camera show Sillinger doing the chicken wing

I don't think that's how it works. If Halak doesn't give up his shit goals the Rangers are probably more composed and actually have a shot.
