If James Neal is not a sniper then there are only a few people in this class called "sniper".
To me a "sniper" is someone like Neal or Kessel or Cammaleri or Hoffman. They just score a high percentage of their goals from distance. And for some reason all of them have been traded for weak packages in recent years, or are about to be (Hoffman probably will be).
Not that they aren't valuable, but it appears that teams don't really consider them to be a special category. They aren't valued more highly than other goal scorers. That or this group just happens to be all nutjobs.
We could get Hoffman for a good price this summer, but keep in mind he is being run out of town by Ottawa. I don't know why.
