Can someone explain the genius of having OSU and Michigan play an outdoor game it Wrigley field as part of the Winter Classic week but them also playing an indoor game in Columbus the night before the Stadium Series?

I hear you but let me take a guess
The Winter Classic will be played in Chicago on January 1 where the probability of cold conditions is high, resulting in better conditions for the ice on the rink
Columbus in early March usually is cold but not like Chicago so it might be to ensure the ice at OSU would be in the best shape possible for the NHL game
Just a guess though

Gonna fly out with my 3 year old for this. Got 2 tickets in the front row of the upper bowl. I've never been to a sporting event in the Shoe and I haven't been to a CBJ game in Columbus since maybe game 4 vs the Caps in 2018? I'm excited!

Can anyone tell me what kind of barrier there is at the front row of the upper bowl? I was hoping it would be a good viewing point for my toddler with nobody in front of him and hopefully just a glass barrier like at some of the NHL arenas, but now I'm thinking it probably isn't.

This’ll do perfectly. Thanks! Hopefully he’ll be able to be interested enough in the game to stay the whole time. lol if I don’t think he will be I’ll probably bring a friend because I want to be there for the whole thing.

Took him to his first game this past spring in Calgary, he had a great time but only made it thru one period. Once his ice cream was gone he was done.

Couple key points

He also soaked up the full atmosphere of a game day at OSU, from the band’s skull session to the dotting of the ‘i’ in script Ohio to other in-game traditions the NHL may mix into the Blue Jackets’ matchup against the Red Wings.

“It’s our third day here now, so we’ve had a lot of planning and operational things the past couple days,” Matsuzaki said prior to the Buckeyes’ game. “Today is now all about game day, front of house, operations in-stadium, traffic, parking and then all the pomp and circumstance, the game presentation ... all of that. We’re going to try to lean into all of what Ohio State does and then use it for our game as well and create the ties.”
“We’ve purposely timed the game (6 p.m.) so the sun is off the stadium, things like that,” Matsuzaki said. “Weather is the big (concern), but also logistics. We spent a lot of time (Friday) figuring out where we’re going to put our ice plant and how to run the piping to the floor and not interfere with other logistics of the stadium, the concourse and things like that.”
As for how the NHL plans to give this outdoor game an Ohio flavor, it’s safe to assume the Ohio State marching band will be involved quite a bit, along with other signature Buckeye traditions. A tribute memorializing Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew — who were killed Aug. 29 while bicycling in South Jersey — will also be featured.

I would've gone with Starset or Beartooth, but I know they don't have the mass appeal as Twenty One Pilots

I know the drummer passed away last year, but Royal Crescent Mob would have been awesome. Thank whatever god you pray to that it isn’t CAAMP or Lil Bow Wow.

OAR too, although I have no idea if they're active. Not advocating for them, just adding them to the list.

RJD2 might have been cool but probably not the profile.

Doc Robinson or Saintseneca haven't truly broken out?

There are some decent to semi-decent choices but really only 21P and maybe Rascal Flatts have the profile the league would want.

I agree with that but I wonder if Dwight Yoakam is a hockey fan.
Meant to mention him in my post. Would probably be my choice, actually, and I'm not a country music fan.

We had a poster here who was in a pretty successful local band - successful locally, I mean. Can't remember which poster - was very active years ago I think and had a music-y user name - or the band but when I do remember I'll add it to this post and no one will notice.

Also, almost 10 years ago to the day, I posted this (part of a longer post on Ohio bands) in the lounge:

Another young band from Columbus is Twenty One Pilots, but I don't get them at all.
