Now, now, Boys, Cleveland has it's positives. There is the Rock Hall, to start with, and a great art museum. The Flats has a number of good places to eat and drink, as does the area near the baseball and basketball complex. On the lakefront, there are two very different types of vessels to tour - a Lake freighter and a WWII sub. Fun can be had!

Hey guys I'm taking a trip west to help root you guys on against the rangers in a couple weeks. I hate to ask something which has probably been repeated a dozen times in this thread but I looked back a couple pages and didn't see anything..

Any must see/do places in around Columbus? Best place to grab some food before and beers after?

Heading to Cleveland a couple days later same questions apply if any of you are familiar with that area.

Thanks in advance.

Arena District before the game. R Bar is a great hockey bar. I like Gordon Biersch and Boston's Pizza too.

The Short North is probably Columbus's coolest neighborhood. Tons of restaurants, bars and shops. It's located just north of downtown along High Street. German Village is also a good area, but it's more residential than commerical, though the Thurman Cafe has some of the best burgers around and it was on Man v. Food. You can always check out OSU if you're into the college scene.

The one thing I will say Cleveland has over Columbus is a performing arts scene if you are into that. The Theatre district in downtown Cleveland is quite good and the Cleveland Orchestra is one of the best in the US, if not the world.

What days are you going to be in Cleveland?

If you're in town on Sunday the 23rd, the Avs and Sabres farm clubs will be playing each other at the arena downtown.

The Winking Lizard location near the Arena is a pretty good place to eat and drink downtown. Ohio City is a trendier area a few blocks west of downtown.

Try to stay near the arena (Gateway District on downtown maps) post-game. Downtown's much safer in the daytime, but if you must be in the northeast corner of downtown (even in broad daylight), get where you're going by car or bus. If you walk there, you will get accosted by extremely aggressive panhandlers (for those who know Downtown Cleveland, I was once chased by a panhandler all the way from the Galleria to the Convention Center).

Nothing really "can't miss" in Cleveland. You can find something to do, but it depends on what you're looking for.

Note: I'm not from C-Bus, but if you're looking for a good place to eat breakfast or lunch, I would recommend Milo's Cafe in the basement of the Statehouse.

I went to the Ohio High School frozen four today at Nationwide. Ignatius looks hard to beat. They trounced my alma mater HS team today. The championship game is tomorrow. If you get a chance, go see the final tomorrow at 2:00.

If not able to get to the game, it'll be broadcast on a delayed basis tonight on STO.

So, I heard there was a pretty dull state championship game today. :sarcasm:

Congrats to both teams and especially to the young man in net for Sylvania Northview.

There are a lot of unhappy campers who witnessed that game. It seems Northview did not return to the ice following the last overtime, but Ignatius was out skating and warming up. The announcement was what really roiled the folks I know from St Ignatius. Dr. Ross just announced that it was canceled, a tie would be declared, and thanked everyone... then left.

Nothing was said or done in the way of ceremony to allow the fans to collectively celebrate the kids from both schools. You'd think they'd have had captains skate forward to hoist the shared trophy, or SOMETHING so the kids could have been sent off with an ovation. But, nothing...

The fans of both teams would have liked the chance to acknowledge and cheer with an ovation the goalie from Northview. it was, I hear, an unbelievable performance on his part.

Just a little kvetching, don't mind me, but this is the first time in the last 5 years I've been unable to sell any extra tickets to a CBJ- Wings game. There's just no interest. Blowing my mind. Somehow, this has been the worst season yet for ticket resale. I figured first Wings game, plenty of people will want to see that... NOPE. So strange. And it's not like I'm trying to sell high, I've got tickets priced below face. FOR A WINGS GAME! ???? And nobody wants them.

Thanks for listening to my mini-rant, carry on!

PS... in other news, anyone looking for tickets below face value for tonight's game? LOL

Kind of funny how few Wings fans want to see a game now that the team no longer dominates the division and conference like they once did.

Who knows, maybe in 20 years we'll be educating the younger generation about how the Wings aren't "lovable losers" at all.

Lots of tickets available on Ticketmaster. I guess the good news would be less whining from CBJ fans about having obnoxious Red Wings fans sitting near them at the game or, while watching the game on TV, complaining about how it looks like a Wings home game.

I think Portzline posted earlier this year that the CBJ were expecting to sell more tickets this year due to more interest in Eastern Conference teams (closer for visiting fans and that CBJ fans would have more interest in teams like Toronto, NYR, Philly, etc), but CBJ have been pretty disappointed. Hopefully, a good playoff series or two will ignite some interest.
