Yeah, all true... but if it's me and I have $300 tied up in tickets and something comes up where I can no longer go, I'm going to try my hardest to get my money back.

They're for sale to anyone who wants to buy them.

Don't let them guilt you:). There's well over 19,000 seats in that arena and only 8,000 season ticket holders. The issue's not the season ticket holders reselling some of their tickets when there's 11,000 seats up for grabs.

There's only 92 tickets listed for resale by season ticket holders on Ticketexchange. It's irrelevant who purchases those 92 tickets when there's 11,000 other seats open to Pens fans. Look at the Ticketmaster availability on the "Interactive seating chart"....EVERYTHING west of center ice (aka Penguins attack twice zone) is sold out. The only seats available are 106-112 and C6-C13 (behind CBJ attack twice goal). DON'T BE PISSED AT SEASON TICKET HOLDERS WHEN IT'S ALL PENS FANS IN LOWER BOWL WEST! THEY DON'T OWN MOST OF THOSE SEATS.

http://www.ticketmaster.com/columbu...013/event/05004B0FA89C75FF?tm_link=edp_onsale

I really hate season ticket holders taking grief for what they do with their tickets. They're the backbone of this franchise. They read on this board over and over on how someone can walk up to a scalper and get a lower bowl seat for $20 (guess who owned that ticket?), yet are then expected to give their tickets away to "Die Hard CBJ Fans" when the Pens come to town. Go make a few bucks on your tickets if it helps you offset your costs of owning season tickets and attend those Monday night Florida Panther games because those "Die Hard CBJ" fans won't show up, or if they do, will only buy your ticket at 1/3rd of cost.

about last summer.
Once we got past the sell-out period early in franchise history, October / November has always been slow for ticket sales. It seems that the general public in Columbus usually doesn't start paying attention until football season is over. This hasn't changed, I'm not sure why so many of you seem surprised by the early season attendance (or lack thereof).

Was only mildly surprised by the Friday night crowd.

To the other big topic.

However, this thread is for fans to exchange tickets. Not sure why we are making some dude feel bad for trying to get someone to pick up those tickets. Don't know about the rest of you, but my personal finances mean far more to me than protecting our arena from scary Pens fans. Not all of us hold so little disregard for $300; or can afford to.

This is part of the reason we (the franchise) wanted to move to the East. Sell more tickets to visiting fans.

When the team gets better, consistently, we'll naturally have less of them. Until then, these guys help the local economy.

So get off the attempted peer pressure. K?

Good post blahblah and Bobcat. Honestly, as a college student I feel no guilt for selling my tickets on nights I know they will bring a larger sum. If I can get $100 from selling for a game like this one, I'm going to do it everytime. Bottom line is, like Bobcat said, if opposing fans want to buy tickets, there is plenty available from ticketmaster, CBJ STH's shouldn't have any guilt over it.

I think a few of you are glossing over this topic without really reading the posts involved.

Jackets, my post had nothing to do with yours. Nor did my post have anything to do with a STH, or someone posting tickets for sale in this thread - that's what it's for. It's the crossposting of the ad I responded to on the Pens forum that was that extra bit of lame for me. Sorry, I get that it's $300 and the guy bought 6 tickets early in the season that they now can't use, but well...that's how it goes. From my perspective, $300 or not, it would be very difficult to actually seek out Pens fans to buy my tickets by going to their board and posting them. It's one thing if they found me...but to seek them out seems lame. Sorry. Maybe a little guilt is justified, IMO. Just sharing my perspective.

At the end of the day, anyone can do anything with their tickets as we all know. Something about this situation just rubbed me the wrong way and I spoke up about it. Probably shouldn't have. C'est la vie.

Picked up a ticket for the Sens-CBJ game Tuesday, do you guys recommend any good bars/restaurants beforehand, and even some interesting things to do in the afternoon? I'll probably get in around 1pm to explore the city a little bit. Tis a quick solo trip, I picked up a ticket first row behind the Sens bench, so I'm pretty excited, never sat that close before.

I always recommend Buca Di Beppo to eat. And I always make reservations. Its right next to the arena. Then I recommend the R-Bar for a good hockey bar. Enjoy your visit!

If you're just going by yourself and aren't opposed to gluttony, go to Thurman's. The premier restaurant in Columbus for fat ****s. Maybe you'd like the R-Bar before the game.

As for what to do...this isn't exactly Chicago. If you're interested in college sports, maybe check out OSU.? Again, options are limited. One of my favorite spots in the city is the Franklin Park Conservatory. Not sure about the hours for either.

Assuming that u r just coming down for a day or two, if u want a hockey atmosphere Rbar is certainly your best environment for that before the game. There are several restaurants w/ in walking distance in the whole Arena District, I can give u some links to some of the areas. Barleys was also mentioned, if u like microbrews Columbus has had a recent surge of those popping up, Elevator Brewing is another one that is closeby. It gets pretty packed as it is still relatively new but if u like old arcade games, I would recommend 16-bit arcade bar.

Thanks for the tips, I was eyeing that barleys while looking online since I thoroughly enjoy microbrews. I'll check out a couple of places and look further into that conservatory too for something cool to check out.

yeah, Buca di Beppo's portions are HUGE!! definitely a date night or group meal type of place...Rodizio Brazilian Steakhouse is wonderful but again, it's a lot of food [we wanted to rest on a couch after we finished the one time we went there, and we had a game to go to!!]...I know it's 'chain type', but we really like Ted Turner's Montana Grill...Elevator has some fabulous beers...Gordon Biersch has a nice American style menu, but like every Arena District spot, it fills up quickly on game nights..The Three-Legged Mare has a nice menu as well, but it can be crowded too..I'd recommend getting to The Arena District proper no later than 5 o'clock if you don't want to wait a long time...and yes, the R-Bar is THE place to go for pre game and post game hockey action...

Being a Tuesday night against a non-marquee opponent (no offense to your senators), you might be able to swing 5:30 and not have too long of a wait, depending on where you go. All depends on how much space the restaurant has. With Buca, the place is huge, so it won't be a problem. Other places just don't have as much space, so plan on a longer wait.

In addition to the Conservatory, which is great but is a couple of miles from the center of town, the Ohio Statehouse, Center of Science and Industry, and Columbus Museum of Art are all within easy walking distance of the Arena. There is a nice river walk just a bit south of the Arena District, with a model of the Santa Maria (don't know if it's open for tours, now) and nice views. For more action and excitement, head north on High Street to the Short North and University Districts. Hope you enjoy your visit.

Buca has good food, but is more of a "date night" place and a chain, so maybe not first choice if going solo or wanting to try something local. If I was an out-of-towner, flying solo and seeking out some manly type grub, I'd certainly vote on Thurman's cafe in German Village. Go there first though because it's couple miles south of arena district.

Barley's also would be good choice if you want to just get to arena district, park and be done with the car. Make at least a stop at R Bar.

I was hoping to at least appease CBJ fans with my Methot jersey (he has become one of my fave players on the team, not only for his on ice play, but his personality off the ice as well) but I don't think it will arrive in time.

Nice, I think I'll probably get in around 1pm so I'd like to check out one non-bar place, and maybe check out one more the next day before I head home. As an MPA student, I figure I should check out that Statehouse eh? It's probably a quicker trip too as I'd probably want to spend more time if going to a museum of some sort.

Methot was always a good guy in my book too, but either way you shouldn't run into any problems. CBJ fans are overall a great group of people and very hospitable to opposing fans. Glad you are making the trip.

The Statehouse is a short walk south on High Street from the Arena District and well worth the time. It was completed in 1857 and has been beautifully restored to turn-of-the-last-century condition. There is a marker in the Atrium where Lincoln spoke to a crowd on his way to his first inauguration and it's very cool to stand where he did! There are daily tours that are very informative and the legislative chambers and hearing rooms are very impressive. If you're into politics, history, and government, I think you'll enjoy it. Then go to a bar near the Arena and enjoy good beer, friendly hockey fans, and Midwestern goodwill!

Whatever happened to the bar in the statehouse? Am I not remembering that right? I've never been to the statehouse, except I was on the lawn to see the president speak in 2008 (he was still senator for another couple of days at the time). I'd like to go inside sometime, alcohol or no alcohol.

You'd earn an instant beer from me, still my favorite player. The wife and I will be up in Detroit on Nov 23rd to see him play against the Wings, we'll be decked out in all our Methot gear (me in a Crunch GI jersey and her in the CBJ Away Playoff jersey, plus I might wear my Methot hat finally).

I might go with my Tugnutt that I've had since 7th grade, both our teams can revel in his glory. I'll be at the November 23 game too, if you want a good bar that shuttle's over to the arena try the old shillelelagh in greektown it's a cool dive if you're into that thing.

I worked there in the early '70s and used to go in very regularly in the following 20, or so, years and I don't remember a bar ever being in there. The most famous legislative watering holes over the years were The Ringside, the Neil House, and the Galleria. Of those, only the Ringside is still around and remains a very cool oldtime hangout. You should definitely visit the Statehouse, db, it's well worth the time!

I remember there being coverage on dispatch.com in the past year about a liquor license or something being suggested for a place in the statehouse, but then there were complications. I'm not sure if the idea was totally nixed or what, and clearly I know very little about the topic at all

well the Internet is a wonderful thing:
