News: Columbus taking calls on multiple players.

Would a player like Chinakov be available? I know he asked for a trade earlier this year but I don’t know what became of that. With his 12th of the year it’s looking like he’s finding a spot in Columbus

Laine could have been a superstar never mind star.
He has dominated some games, especially earlier in his career.
His last game with the Jets was one of the best I've seen from him.

I have heard he is lazy in the off season and doesn't do much skating at all. He has shown to be, not sure what the word is, disinterested? in the game.
It's a shame.

Provorov would definitely be interesting. With that retained salary, his contract is very manageable now and with another year on it, so it's not just a pure rental. If the Blue Jackets were to also retain on it, you could be getting a solid Top-4D with a heavy "playoff ready" game for like $2.5-3M which would be very convenient for teams to fit into their cap situation this year and next.

He's not untouchable per se but yeah he is someone we're working to build around. Columbus is not your source for physical centers; we need the ones we have.
What would Jenner cost WPG

Jenner is especially unlikely because we badly need his mentoring experience. About the only way it could be rationalized is if we could get something similar going on the backend - and in such a scenario, y'all would also be taking on someone like Provorov or Severson as well as part of it on the assumption that they're not doing well. I recommend giving up on the idea.

Why not Vancouver ?

Because Boone Jenner is slow as f***. He'd look terrible in Tocchet's system. Especially at the cost it'd take to acquire him.

Now...if they were able to swindle the Jackets out of Kent Johnson while Keke is still in charge of crashing the ship...i'd be willing to pay through the nose for that. But i don't get the impression they have any desire whatsoever to move the younger guys like that, even with Jarmo being halfway clueless.

I don't know that Laine strikes me as strictly "disinterested" in the way that someone like say, PLD can be. It feels like Laine does at least actually really love playing hockey and scoring goals. He's just got a bit of an unusual personality for a star hockey player. He seems to sort of march to the beat of his own drum. Has a very different sort of intensity than your typical "rah rah 110%" players...which can certainly come across as "lazy" or "disinterested" as a casual glance. Can also be a real enigma for coaches who aren't used to players whose attitude seems to exist outside the typical "elite athlete" mindset.

Jarmos master plan of dumping Elvis in shambles.

Now he’s moved onto Laine.

Maybe he’ll even let Laine play so acquiring GMs can watch this time.

Idk I don't think he's had much time there cuz he is always hurt lol . Either way I can't see Columbus getting good value

Columbus is a team that shouldn't freak out imo they have the bones to an alright team and have had just garbage luck I could see them having a Vancouver season if they get lucky

They should absolutely freak out, but for other reasons then results. Why are their top players always injured? Its bad luck one year, but year after year... something is going on. Figure it out before a guy like Fantilli starts succumbing to the injury bug too.

And they wont have a Vancouver season... Vancouver has some truly elite pieces at each position, they have the core of a contender. Theres no Q Hughes, E Pettersson, JT Miller or Demko in Columbus. Perhaps Fantilli in the future, but hes not at that level yet

Would they trade Laine for nil?

A 9 million caphit for 2 more years. Laine not really worth much. We will roll the dice on him but not give up much.

This right here is the essence of the trade boards. If things don't go your way start to downtalk the player. The Jackets are probably fine keeping him and hopes that he will bounce back from his injury streak. It's not like it's a huge gamble since he isn't signed beyond 2026.
