Downgrade from Girard to Soucy and subtract by addition with Joonas "0 Goals" Donskoi, all for the price of a 2nd! Where do I sign?

On Avs Donskoi was actually worth his salary. At 50% and back on the Avs he would actually probably be a bargain.

You do realize that Donskoi is on Kraken now? On Avs he had 16 and 17 goals on his 2 seasons there. At 50% and back with his former teammates I`m pretty sure he would contribute better. Avs didnt wanna let him go - Kraken took him in expansion draft.

No not happening it didn't work out for the Avalanche the first time the Avs made no mistake by letting Seattle pick him he has 0 goals other options for the Avalanche.

Lmao. Im not an avs but girard is far far away of bergeron and mete, not even close. Girard can easyly play in a top 4 of every good team.

yeah if you’re playing pond hockey. As soon as the puck drop in the playoff he’s the biggest liability there is.

No, I don’t. He’s a mix of Marc-Andre Bergeron and Victor Mete and it’s only a question of time before people catch up that he’s a liability and not a positive asset on a team

I was told for years Mete was good though. Isn't he a top puck moving d man that could he the centrepiece for a good forward?

If depth is all your after I'm pretty sure you can find a lot better deal giving up Girard. A lot of teams would offer a much better package for him then the OP's proposal.

I’m curious who OP thinks they Donskoi is playing better than on the Avs?
Avs depth is firing on all cylinders right now. There is no player that I absolutely want gone from this team based purely on play.

I understand that the OPs offer doesn't make sense for the Avs, but a 4th and a 5th for Soucy is a much bigger joke of a proposal.

Other than not scoring, Donskoi has not played badly this season. He's worked hard and has been positionally sound, but I think he is a guy that benefits from chemistry and familiarity. Hakstol plays everyone with different linemates every single game. Donskoi should have probably close to 8-10 goals, as there have been at least that many times when he was open and in perfect position to tap the puck into the net, but his linemates chose to shoot the puck wide or into the goalies chest instead of passing it.

But I agree, with his current numbers he doesn't have much value at the moment.

Soucy on the other hand is playing great hockey as a mobile two-way defender. I doubt a late 2nd would be enough to convince Francis to move him, let alone a 4th and 5th,

Donskoi scores a lot of his goals on smart plays around the net and slot area, like re-directs/tips/rebounds, so it's quite understandable that his scoring has dried up when he isn't playing with Dmen or playmakers that can find him in the right spots.

Despite not scoring a goal Donskoi has been very good this year for Seattle and looked dangerous most nights. He's just had no puck luck this season, I want to say he's hit the post on numerous occasions. He's also been a very good playmaker who should have more assists but Seattle hasn't been a very efficient scoring goals. He's a great PKer too, so his value to Seattle is high despite the lack of goals.

With that said this deal is food for Seattle value wise but not fit wise. Girard is a better offensive defenseman than Soucy but Soucy is much bigger and more physical. Seattle also has Dunn to be that left handed PMD. So it just doesn't make sense to have Girard as the main piece in a deal. Unless it was a 3 team where they are trading Girard for a top 6 forward in his age range.

And yet Girard would would be Montreals best player if he was on your garbage team.

watching Newhook repeatedly lap Caufield has been quite a joy this season. Another bad pick by MB. Other than San Jose, I can’t think of a team with worse contracts than Montreal. It’s such a fiasco of cap mismanagement.

Let’s wait for Donskoi to score a goal this year first before trading him for a top 3 D….

Are you actually referring to Kraken beeing as good a team than Avs? On Avs Donskoi was a contributer. I bet the player hasnt gotten worse, just the team around him. At <2M Donskoi is quite valuable. You wouldnt have posted shit like that a year back,.

A year ago, Avs fans were talking about how Donskoi was one of the guys that definitely needed to be exposed in the expansion draft, even though Compher was who most people were hoping would get selected. Why pay to get him back when we weren't sad to see him go?

Donny had a completely unsustainable shooting % last season. That has swung the other way this year. Avs definitely don’t need or want him back. Seattle got hosed when the Avs traded Graves right before the expansion draft. That was the pick they were hoping to make.

Seattle did Sakic a favor taking Donny. I wish it had been JT Compher but losing Donnys cap hit and term was a good outcome as well.
