Lol no.

He's probably chasing a woman or one of his family members is in poor health...are more likely reasons.
AFAIK his girlfriend is in Winnipeg (if they are still together) and his mom/family is in Texas.

He was probably not making a ton of money with DNVR but that's the coolest job ever and it comes with media credentials for all the games/pressers.

He mentioned in that pod they're going through a divorce right now.

The Winnipeg girl? They were married?

Would be pretty wild to move to a new state for a new girl while you're still going through a divorce with the first wife.

As many here are aware, I've had a personal friendship w/ AJ that extended outside of hockey-related items.

I've long ago stopped trying to discuss his/DNVR's hockey coverage here, because people will believe what they want to believe. Certain hockey things he has told me in private have both come true AND not worked out. I don't know if I can quantify it, but I think even he'd say that things he'd shared would probably work out to not have happened more often than not.

But he never really wanted to be someone who trafficked in rumors. He would hear something around the rink, he would hear it again from a different source (and I don't mean "source" as in someone he would always go to for information, just from a different person), and that would usually be when he'd share something. Does it mean it would come true? No, not necessarily, because by now we all know how hard it can be to make a trade.

But on a personal level, AJ has always been a good person, and an even better friend. I remember years and years ago, when I was in the throes of a terrible depression, severely obese, hating my life, and in a terrible relationship with a woman (who would eventually dump me, thereby HELPING me turn my life around and leading me to my wife and my wonderful children), I trashed him...relentlessly. I didn't know him but I trashed him.

And then one day, I reached out to him, I asked him if he knew of me/about my posts here. He said he did, he was aware of what HF says about him (both on the hockey stuff AND the jokes about his weight). My ex-fiancee and I hadn't quite broken up yet, but unbeknownst to me we were on that road.

I had given him an genuine apology, at this point today, I do not know what caused me to be so blinded by vitriol and hatred toward someone I had never met. But I apologized, told him it was stupid of me to do that, and that even if he didn't want to talk w/ me or be a friend (because at this point I had noticed that we shared some similar interests outside of hockey), I would understand, but I knew I owed it to him to apologize.

To his credit--he accepted my apology, and then we became friends. And not just "friends", but he has been a genuine friend who has been there for me at some dark times in my life, as well as being there when things are great!

When MrsRL and I were trying to conceive our first child, I found out some unfortunate news--the reason we weren't conceiving was entirely my fault. Without going too much in to it, I had the volume, but something was wrong w/ my stuff. Now, my specialist found what he believed was the reason for it, and told us there was a procedure that would fix it. But at the time, I was crushed. I had gone from weighing 350+ lbs down to around 170 (at this point) and I'm being told that male factor infertility was so under-researched, that we couldn't pinpoint the reason. Some reasons for MFI would include being overweight/obese AND losing an extreme amount of weight in a short amount of time...which was a camp I fell squarely in to. I say all of this because he was one of the first people I confided in about this. Because up to this point, I didn't feel like I had anyone I could share this with. And he was there for me.

1 month before Harrison was born, MrsRL and I went to Denver on a short "baby moon" trip. We'd planned that because she thought it might be fun to see an Avs game in the playoffs before Harrison arrived. Unfortunately, when we bought our hotel room, etc., we didn't know if they'd be playing home or away against the Blues (I believe it was G3, which was in StL). The game ended up being in StL, so AJ told us to come to the DNVR bar and we would sit up with him and the rest of the DNVR people, including Brandon Spano who owns the whole shebang. He didn't have to do that, but he did and we enjoyed the game, a 5-1 Avs win.

Lately, he's talked w/ me about getting his health in order, and that has included a pretty significant milestone weight loss, and I'm just happy that he is doing something that makes him happy.

He's a good guy and a better friend. I wish him nothing but the best of luck in this new venture!

Hopefully Eric Lacroix spends some time this summer taking some public speaking/elocution classes. If he's gonna replace AJ in some way, he's gotta be more listenable.

Know what I mean? Like, you know, speaking....

Lacroix can speak for 3 min straight and not say anything, Rudo is impossible to listen to and Meghan is too shy/polite/quiet and will only speak when asked to.

AJ really was the lead of that podcast, I'm not sure what will happen now.

The internet/social media seems to pull people to the extremes.

People need to either love or hate someone. Superlatives are handed out like candy, instead of measured commentary. And instead of deferring to those who are more experienced, many posture as an expert, or throw in extra specifics to something they're talking about, hoping to sound like they know more than they do. It all makes for very disingenuous interactions IMO.

I don't view DNVR content much, but I have no interest in bashing them, AJ, Dater, or anyone else on a personal level. It does nothing for me, and frankly anyone else, but cater to one's ego.

AJ seemed to light up when he talked about moving. On a human level that was cool to see. Hope that means he's on his way to something that brings him happiness, because that's the most important thing in life, and the more we have, the better our interactions with each other are.

Both happiness and misery are contagious. We need more of the former on the internet.
