I'm thinking about getting a dog again too. Not quite sure which breed yet. Kind of want a somewhat reserved dog that likes to sit on the couch with me and watch Netflix or go for long walks and hikes.

Any breed ideas?

I have two pugs and don't think I'd change breeds ever again. They pretty much will do whatever you do. Most people overfeed them so they're out of shape. I used to take mine on a 3km run and they were good. Not when it's hot though 30 mins or less for walks when the temp is up.

Probably not the most reserved dog though. They get very happy and excitable around people but if you want to spend all day in bed they are happy but if you want to go exploring they're happy too. They just want to hang out with you.

Not recommended if you can't spend much time with them though. They can get depressed if they are on their own a lot and their tails can even permanently uncurl.

I've been thinking about getting a pet, but not I'm sure whether to go cats or dogs. I'm not sure if I could give enough attention to a dog and my family (who, luckily, I'm still close with) are allergic to cats. I wish I was a kid again, so all I had to do was go to the pet store and point at the pet I liked.

OK I gotta address the Nike thing.

For me, I grew up on old school Reebok's and Adidas as well as Chucks, but when my feet basically got flatter as I got older, Adidas shoes started to hurt my feet and Chucks were Chucks, they are actually more comfy now that my feet are flat and Reebok's, outside of the gum shoe retro pairs, I am not a fan of anything they make besides the one time I gave in on a RBK pair back in the day for the Pumps.

Can I mix in my dress shoes?

1. Berluti Chelsea boot.
Why: Yes they are expensive, but they're real leather and I've had leather shoes from 19yrs ago that I have re-stained and re-soled, quality lasts and Berluti makes fantastic shoes. These go well with jeans, dressed down casual suiting, etc. Just a gorgeous pair that I love wearing.

2. Air Max 1 - Pimento
Why: I love the color-way, the suede, it looks nice but it's a little tougher to wear because it's well, it's red. I have a nice pair of black & gray Traveler Jeans from Banana Republic that look really good with this, but they're really comfy (I have an all tennis ball color version of this, don't ask why, and a lighter blue version as well, just a comfy shoe).

3. You're gonna laugh, but it's a new pair I bought a few days ago that I have been wearing a lot as my "errands" shoes - New Balance 574 Sport (The black one, I am debating getting the gray ones, I have them on hold at this sneaker shop until tomorrow).

Honorable mentions:

My infrafred Air 90's.

My Nike Roshe Runs All black

Converse all black leather low top

Adidas Foray (Dark/Light)
8VOb7ft.jpg

Steve Madden Rivars - Not anything special, just a nice shoe for literally jeans, slacks, suiting, etc.

I'll stop at that. Otherwise it's a long list, I love all of my shoes, and yes I am one of those dudes that cleans them and puts them away after. Remember the Alfie remake with Jude Law? His shoe wall? My walk in has a shoe wall, shoes boxes with polaroids of what's in it. I'm just....organized, not OCD at all.

I have that exact pair of Steve Maddens.

Pretty much the only pair of nice shoes I have. My everyday shoes are worn out Adidas.

I have very expansive soccer clearts though

I actually have a buddy who works for New Balance. They are trying to up their sneaker game. They've found a nice niche with like the J Crew prep style and they have some retro sneakers out that are actually wearable.

Gone are the days where they are only for men/women over 60. NB has really upped their game. I would say Adidas (by far), NB, and oddly Puma are 3 companies who looked to be dead awhile ago have now found new life and a new purpose. Which is only awesome for the shoe game.

Always been a huge Lab/Golden Retriever fan. Loyal, dependable, awesome dogs.

I can ask her, but she lives in Europe so I can't promise anything.

I love the brown and gold color scheme of those shoes, but I've never really liked Supreme as a brand. Speaking of corporate crossovers, these are definitely the next pair of shoes I'm getting:

That stitching is too beautiful.

Agreed. Those are sweet.

And for shoes like the Steve Maddens above - I swear by Johnston and Murphy. Amazing look, amazing leather, and comfortable. When a dress shoe is that comfortable, it's well worth the $150-$200.

Just don't get a high energy breed if you can't handle it. It's not fair to the dog and they can develop behavioural problems from not being active enough. Boxers have a tonne of personality but they're pretty high maintenance with exercise, stimulation and attention.

Idk, I had a pug growing up and my sister has one now. The childhood dog was healthy but hers not so much. Purebreds in general can be pretty bad but pugs have those eyes and the smushed face working against them.

After 12 years between Philly and NYC, I'm finally, officially moved back to the Burgh now! :yo:

And yeah, there are a lot of great dog options, largely depends on what you're looking for. I grew up with a Corgi which was really smart and loyal and pretty easy to manage/take care of. Let him chase the ball around a little each day/go on a leisurely walk, but he was always good lying around and hanging out.

Welcome back to Yinzerville! This summer has been filled with rain, which is unfortunate, but hot damn I love this city.

My pugs haven't had any "pug" problems but for mine I got to meet the Mum and Dad of both. I have one black one and he pretty much choose me. Out of the 4 he was the only one that came up to me. The others all hovered back a bit.

Randomly Zach Boychuk just liked a couple of my pug pics on instagram. Once had Tori Spelling's (from BH90210) Mum like my pugs photo that's when you know you've made it

Yeah my old boss had a boxer and it was crazy. Lots of fun though but yeah he had to go to large fields and just her run to tire her out.

There. are some breed specific rescues and people still dump purebreds in shelters.

That is true. We once found a gorgeous Staffordshire Bull abandoned and we took him to a specific rescue place. Same with a greyhound, lots of those dumped after they cannot longer race (another set of ********)

I've wanted a German Shepherd since I was a little kid...but I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night if I ever got a pet that wasn't a rescue.

It's easy to have an uppity stance like that when you'd have to be an ******* to get a dog like that in a city like this, though.

Back to watching the Pens in the flesh

Yup, I've been back a good bit already this summer, and man has the rain been weird so far this summer.

And def glad to be back and be able to catch more games here in person. I saw the Pens a good bit on the road vs the Flyers and especially the Rangers (and the Devils and Isles a couple times too I guess) and even the playoffs with all those Rangers series, but not the same as being out here and being able to go at home more often.

Not gonna hate the $ difference of living out here rather than in NYC the last 7-8 years either.

Suit up!

Just this once, be fun. Suit up!:naughty:

I'm always fun, can't you tell? She goes away for vacation at the end of next week. Hopefully we can get some drinks before the vacation.

I'm also fairly big into sunglasses and glasses, being that I am of the four-eyed variety, my favourite out of all of my sunglasses are my Persol Steve McQueen Orange/Blue fold-able pair.

I mean, it's the King of Cool, Bullitt...how could you pass it up? Also, each pair is hand crafted, so no pair is the same and the blue lens, if you want to catch the attention of sartorial snobs, these will.

7TiYHOh.jpg

Look at them, look! Look!!

I love Persol, I have 3 pairs from them, amazing quality and durability because they're crystal lenses, so the clarity is fantastic.

Daaamn, those are nice.

All this custom shoe talk is inspiring to get a pair. I'm going to get this on a pair of chuck's

I have dress shoes/boots, converse, a cheap pair of grey shoes, and running shoes. That's the extent of my fashion.

Buncha grown men in here talkin' bout shoes....what is this??

I'm intrigued into what do you wear. Do tell.

Yeah my old boss had a boxer and it was crazy. Lots of fun though but yeah he had to go to large fields and just her run to tire her out.

The pug we had when I was a little kid was pretty much guaranteed to be from a puppymill and was healthy until he died at 12/13 aside from some arthritis when he was older. My sister got one from a reputable breeder, met the parents and all that jazz. He's had chronic ear infections, eye infections, he's going blind, he's had teeth pulled and there's something I've forgotten. He's 4 and there's maybe something else going on with him now. The first boxer we got was one we saw the parents and cousin, met the puppies. He was ****ed in the head; there was just something wrong with that dog and he died fairly young. My boxer, the family dog that I took because she was clearly my dog, was the one bullying the other puppies and demanding all of the attention. She wasn't the one we were supposed to get and we weren't able to visit the puppies but we got lucky and someone else got the boy. She was only available/alive because the breeder was dying and wasn't up to forcing the owners of the accidentally bred dogs to kill the white ones. Best dog ever.

That is random. I guess he's a fan of pugs.

Boxers are machines. So much energy. No matter how long she's out walking she'll crash for five minutes after and want to play.

People are ****ing piece of **** *******s who dump dogs when they aren't little puppies anymore or take work. Rescue dogs can also have unknown histories that could be concerning because of said pieces of ****.

I have some sketchers leather shoes, sketchers white sneaker, a black and brown pair of clarks dress shoes, reebok running shoes, reebok cleats, and a pair of 10 dollar walmart shoes to wear back and forth to work, where I put on work boots covered in paint.

The work boots are the only ones that cost more than $50, and work paid for those. I have very very little nice clothes. I work in a paint lab where I can wear jeans and a tshirt (which will be covered by a lab coat) half the time and dress pants and a collared shirt when I visit customers at their paint lines. Everything I wear for work will be ruined by paint long before it goes bad for any other reason, so I cannot justify buying expensive clothes for work. I do have two decent suits that I pretty much just wear for weddings. Otherwise, I have a bunch of button downs from when I was a teacher that I wear to things like Christmas dinner and whatnot. Otherwise, I live in t-shirts.

That is why I prefer smaller rescue places, they can give the animals more attention and help. Show an animal love and they return it a million times over.

Yeah... that is really the right way to do it. Unfortunately it's not manageable because of the number of *******s out there and the number of dogs/animals that need a shelter.
