It was good. Not outstanding or anything but that's quite a bit to live up too.

Haven't seen Rogue One? What period does that slot into, between Ep 3 & 4?

It is about the Empire stepping up their game, building the Death Star and how the rebels stole the plans. Decent film.

EDIT - And a nice epic Vader meltdown

Episode 7 and R1 were palate cleansers after the prequels. Also to show that Disney can work with the property without "Disneyfying" it.

Episode 7 said it best in its opening line, "This will begin to make things right"

Yep, specifically leading up to Ep. 4

i thought both Ep. 7 and Rogue One were solid if unspectacular

Just saw Rogue came out on the Canadian Netflix so I'll give it a watch this weekend.

A Vader meltdown sounds interesting Clare.

I found out before watching Force Awakes one of the big things that happened in it because someone posted a photo on Facebook a picture of a SUV driving around with the spoiler sprayed onto the window  What a f***!

My Mother, of all people, nearly gave me a spoiler before I watched the film. I ended up telling her to shut up over Skype

Without factoring in nostalgia, Rogue One is the best film of any of the Star Wars movies. It's basically a fantasy version of the Dirty Dozen and it features the most nuanced, believably human villain in the series.

Episode Seven was decent enough. I certainly don't understand the hatred for it, but it is pretty derivative and could have been a lot better. Almost all of the legitimate criticisms of it bring us back to one issue - Abrams played it way too safe.

Since I'm not thrilled with my future position at this company, I've been sending a list of questions about it to my boss. Both serious and not-so-serious -- at the same time -- questions. Such as:

"10. Seeing as how the most efficient way to get to one area on the project to another site that is a few miles away is to travel our right-of-way, can we use horses as transportation? We'd obviously need training and safety classes. As well as horses." **

Episode VII, as you said, was safe.. and it had to be safe. Remember that this is a business and that Disney had just invested $4B in the property. They had to make sure they were going to re-start the franchise on solid ground. Sure, making it so close to ANH pissed off some net nerds, but those people will still go and watch Episode VIII. What TFA achieved is introduce Star Wars to a new generation of fans AND come back to the tone, feel and look at the originals. In other words, they successfully relaunched the franchise and will swim in money.

4 wheelers ... see, it just got that much more fun :D

And hey, at least you don't have to worry about large predators out in the middle of nowhere in WV like you'd have to in the Rockies or Alaska.

"We have a plot hole!"

"Let's make an entire pointless movie to fix that plot hole!"

The entire franchise was made into a franchise because a midget realized he stood to make a **** load of money off of merchandising. Literally the story of this freaking franchise. I have all of my hopes pinned on E8.

Any shoe collectors here on the board? I'm thinking about buying a pair of yeezys

Never owned a pair of yeezy's, I guess I some how just fell into a Nike collection.

I have several Air Max 90's in different color-ways, same with Air Max 1's, my latest was an all black Roshe Runs that are just way too comfortable to not try to wear every day. I look like a Nike ***** when I am at the gym too and it's hard to explain to people that one of your best friends works at the Nike HQ in Portland. So while people pay full price, I pay like 30% of the actual cost at retail.

I have 3 Jordan's that I can't seem to figure out how to wear, maybe because I just feel old wearing them or something. I have the OG1, the OG black toe, then the Son of Mars Bordeaux.

I have some casual Adidas shoes that I don't mind, I find their shoes to be lacking in the comfort department unless you have the Boosts and Yeezy's etc.

I have a lot of Converse color-ways as well, all black leather, all black canvas, the classic all black white toe, all red white toe, all white, then the all red as well. They offer no support but they're oddly comfortable.

Yes. I have ~50 pair of shoes.

You'd have to pay me to wear Yeezys. Total hypebeast trash. They're comfortable, but anything with boost tech is going to be. Just grab a pair of UBs, much cleaner profile and better colorways.

I disagree that it had to be safe. Star Wars prints money. The prequels were objectively poor movies, but they were wildly successful commercially. There was so much hype surrounding Disney's acquisition of the franchise, just as there was so much hype for the prequels after Star Wars essentially languished during the 90s. The mere fact that there was going to be a new trilogy guaranteed that the first film would make a ton of money. The opportunity to be daring was there, but JJ Abrams doesn't know how. It's been his MO for his entire career, it has comparatively little to do with restarting the franchise on solid ground. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

I'm a fan of the Belugas, Moonrocks, and Oxford Tans. I am not a fan of any of the black ones. They look silly. But the three i mentioned are great.

I have about 80-100+ pair of shoes. I really don't like having a ton of tennis shoes that go with clothes because i don't like tennis shoes w/ any outfits, but Adidas has changed my thinking on that as of late. Their stuff is really solid.

I have - Tennis Hu (yellow bottoms), 3 pair of NMDs, and some Solar Stan Smiths. Those are my rare shoes so far. I just want about 2 more rare pair of shoes to complete that collection/look. But ultimately I wear oxfords, sperrys, chukkas, derbys, etc.
