So I’ve been wearing my perfetti pyjamas for two weeks now. Wife decided to wash them. Should of known they would shrink.

I wouldn't compare him stylistically to any of Hodgson, Turris or Drouin. The later two's games are based on speed and skating, inwouldnt classify either as high IQ players.

Some low end comps for my would be Sam Gagner, teruvinan, Eberle, Mike Comrie.

Eberle I can see...

Thought that early in this tournament...

I like Eb's...

Sam Gagner... ?

You're starting to sound like Sip' Surix'...

Only if the OHL is shut down this season. If that happens then yes Cole can play in the AHL.

He's going to the AHL... or Europe...

The Junior leagues are toast this year...

As a young guy... even as an invisible Canadian hockey player growing up...

I can't imagine not playing at that age...

Devastating ...

Between playing Baseball, Hockey and Basketball in My high school & college years...

The experiences with My team and the great coaches & bad coaches... the wins... the losses... the road trips... witnessing what makes a great player... bad players... good teammates... bad actors...

The fun... the heartache...

All of it helped make Me the man I am today... it was so integral for My future... and I am so blessed now...

I was no Perfetti's but there are a huge number of young men and women like I was at that age...

This is a national tragedy...

Perfetti will be fine...

The positive views are really a great read on here but he just seemed so slow compared to his teammates and opposition. I found it painful to witness though the WJHC.
He has a great shot and good instincts though I think we was caught puck watching is the D zone a few times.
I hope he turns out but it’ll be 2 years min before he may amount to an effective NHLer, if he ever does.
I was disappointed in what I saw but the kid has time for sure.
Maybe trim the crazy mop crop too!:)

If there's no contact then no player should go play in the OHL. That league will be detrimental to any hockey player trying to get better

Cole was the slowest guy on Team Canada. He just has no foot speed. I still think he will be great in the NHL but he needs to get working on that.
Not once, in the entire tournament did he catch anyone or blow by anyone.

I think he was also given the green light to be creative given that we were down.

Have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the game plan we ran given the talent we had. Would have loved to see this team coached to play with creativity and and lots of switches in the ozone like the Americans ans Fins were.
Lot of politics involved with our coach this year. Played his favourites, no matter what. Unfortunately, Cole was not among them, despite having a real solid tournament.

Even with his lack of foot speed he still was incredibly efficient at pushing the play into the offensive end. I dont think it helped that we weren't playing a more robust offensive zone scheme that would take advantage of his skill set.

But yes he needs to worknon his footsteps and strength and he knows that.

Was 67% on controlled zone exits and 60% on controlled zone entries last night.

Wonder how they approach it if the OHL has a season but as a different sport? i.e. no hitting. That should be enough for any OHL rules to nullify and players can go wherever.

I thought Perfetti looked especially dangerous last night, EXCEPT, I did not like him as the extra attacker at the end of the game. He looked good on the half wall and definitely has some really talented hands for playmaking. I forget when, but somewhere in the 2nd period when Canada was already down 2-0 and looking dead, his line actually looked fresh and motivated. Only reason I didn't like him out there at the end of the game is I felt he had a frantic looking passes towards the net that just went behind the net and rung around out of the danger zone (at least that's what I remember thinking last night).

The play you are thinking of is when he put the puck through the slot looking for the high tip play. There were three Canadian players in the vicinity and he was expecting the player up high to put his stick on the ice and direct it on net. That didn't happen so the play looks worse then what it was. Imo it was the correct read but obviously not executed well on the part of the player who was up high.

Good point. That was the exact play and I was thinking the same thing that that's what he was likely thinking. I guess yeah, bad execution by the team there and less on Cole for making that happen. But there was definitely a few times in the game where he put up some solid passes to his teammates. Overall I thought he had a great game last night all things considered.

I'm dreading the day he demands to play on the same line with Mr Robot.

I really feel we missed out on our second line center in Lundel by taking Perfetti. Lundel looked great as Finland's captain!

Lundell was a big fish in a small pond, Perfetti was a normal sized fish in an ocean. When you're one of the few players on your team capable of producing you have your whole team looking to give you the puck and work the play through you.

Yup which is why I put little stock in the tournament as any kind of barometer for future success.

^^ Above posts, and it's probably been a while since Perfetti had to play a role other than being "the guy". And tournaments are weird. I think the consensus was Lundell was the safer pick because of size and being closer to NHL ready while Perfetti probably has the higher upside. I still haven't managed to really watch Perfetti play, but sounds like maybe he is a year or two away from being ready for the big league, which honestly shouldn't surprise anyone. He seems a bit of a baby face, that might bode well for the Jets.

At the end of the day this is how it could play out. Lundell looked really good playing his role as Captain of Finland. He was kind of a man child against boys.

He looked allot better and more NHL ready than Byfield too, Same as Quinn and Rossi. He looked every bit as good if not better than as Holtz and Raymond and they are only wingers and as we are painfully finding out they don’t carry the same value as centres.

Lundell is further along than all the forwards drafted ahead of him except for Laf and Stutzle IMO.

The thing is though we are drafting Perfetti for where he will be in 2- 3 seasons from now and I am still really happy with the pick.

Lundell looks great but it’s still way too early to make any proclamations.

Well said. You are drafting for long term upside and I.o Cole has more pure talent but needs his body and skating to catch up to it, not all that different the Scheifele.
