Last year I was saying it was
1 hughes
2 seider
3 Zegras
4 Caufield

.. Cole is looking like 3 now.. and depending on how many goals this and the next couple years
Could easily be #2 lol

Boldy is up there too but this CC is a free top 3 pick we just snatched in 2019 lol, helps the rebuild QUITE a bit
there's always a need for a sniper - but I'd take C Hughes and D Seider before CC

superstar.
not a superstar. yet at least.. he's got to get 50+ for a few seasons in a row to be considered one IMO

9M*8 years and he'll be entirely worth it. Remember, the cap will go way up during this decade.

Insane, I don't think we realize how much it means for your rebuild that Caufield is turning into a superstar. This was NOT expected. Sure, he was supposed to be a Cammalleri of sort, and that was good, but he's way beyond that now and only getting more dangerous.

Why hasn’t he been extended with the same deal Suzuki is getting minus a couple hundred grand? Are they waiting for him to score 50 and cost more?
If I were CC or his agent, I’d be waiting to see how this season goes. If he hits 50, he’s getting 10M+ AAV. That’s what’s happening. He has a shot at 50, so he’s not going to leave potentially 16M+ on the table, especially in a place like MTL.

I'm not sure 50 will happen but I do agree the right thing for him is to wait, but who knows

His agents are probably telling him to wait.

But that’s a risky thing to do as well. If he gets hurt… it’s millions tha could be lost.

I’m fully onboard with signing him as soon as possible. He’s only going to get more expensive.

It’s not entirely unexpected. He set scoring records in the minors. He’s simply continuing what he did in the NHL. He always had much higher potential than Cammaleri did.

50+ goals for a few seasons in a row just to be considered a superstar?
Not sure you realize how rare of a feat that is
We should wait until he starts getting into that 50 goal territory before we start referring to him as that. He’s looking incredibly impressive, but his 50 goal pace is spread over two different seasons and it’s only a half 42 game sample size. We just signed Suzuki to $8 million which should help bring down the cost of Caufield. This is a good time to try and lock Caufield up the same way we did Pacioretty a decade ago on a bargain deal.

Man.... this kid!

I cautiously predicted 35 goals for him, expecting him to go through dry spells and adjust to other teams playing him tighter. Still might happen. But he's a sneaky critter, and if his confidence keeps growing he just might become our first 40-50 goal scorer in forever.

Best PPG sequence since Kovalev hit 84 points in 2008 is Galchenyuk 8 years later, hitting 59 points in 60 games, spread over two seasons, his 4th and 5th, before getting injured and ending the sequence.

So this makes both Caufield and Suzuki a month away from equating the best PPG sequence a Habs player has had in the last 15 years. Caufield and Suzuki both have 41 points in their last 44 games.
