I wouldn’t take Zegras before Cole.
Last year I was saying it was
1 hughes
2 seider
3 Zegras
4 Caufield

.. Cole is looking like 3 now.. and depending on how many goals this and the next couple years
Could easily be #2 lol

Boldy is up there too but this CC is a free top 3 pick we just snatched in 2019 lol, helps the rebuild QUITE a bit

Same. Not as much of a game breaker. Right or wrong, I was overly hyped on the USNTDP that year and had Hughes, Caufield, Zegras as 1, 2 and 3 (also had Turcotte at 6, Boldy at 7, and Knight at 8). Besides Seider and Hughes, I wouldn't trade Caufield for anyone that went in 2019 and depending on if Caufield can continuously make the rocket Richard a two way race with Matthews every year, I wouldn't trade him for anyone that year

Hughes,Seider and Zegras

Byram would of been a stud but early concussions will sadly ruin hes career sucks because i loved him has a prospect
Byram is a stud. He was fantastic in the finals. I would add Boldy to the list too. Caufield is awesome, but he hasn't created enough seperation yet. He's got the potential to do it, but all of these guys have been equally great up to now.

Caufield has 31 goals in his first 82 nhl regular season games.
That's quite impressive. Even more amazing when you consider it includes a 1 goal in 30 games stretch.

5 in his first 40 games

26 in his last 42

He hasn't slowed down from last season, that tells me he'll keep close to that 5/8 pace.

I'm not even sure I'd take any of these guys over Caufield. Caufield is getting REAL good now. It's definitely a possibility that he surpasses them all.

50 goal scorers with ES production are a rare breed.

I think it depends on roster construction. I loved Zegras his draft year, but I also loved Dach and they are similar (Dach bigger, Zegras more skilled, but both look like high end playmaking centermen). Throw in Suzuki (and maybe Beck) and we are looking great down the middle. If we didn’t have Caufield we’d need a player like him.

Byram is an absolute stud. I think hes every bit as good as Seider is right now.

I dont care what anyone else has done, im keeping the 50g scorer. The Habs havent had that in forever.

Byram strikes me as guy who is very valuable, but as a supporting player, similar to guys like Bouwmeester or Hjalmarsson. He won’t be a #1 imo. I think Caufield is going to be a superstar.

Easy answer for me. Caufield. Kid can score on wing and that is just as rare as a top 2C.

Zegras and Dach have had high ratings since they were drafted. However, the run that Caufield is on with MSL is as good as it gets for a 21 year old.

#1 Caufield
#2 Hughes
#3 The rest

How bout dat?

From a habs fan perspective, I would keep Caufield over anyone else from the 2019 draft, but from a neutral fan perspective, I would take Hughes, Zegras, Seider, and maybe Boldy before Caufield. This could changed based on they perform this year.

Hughes will be a #1 center and Seider a #1 def i love Caufield but those 2 are more valuable/better then Cole
Honestly... I don't know man.

I think at the end of the day those three will be seen as the best in the draft but I definitely think CC has the goods to be number one at the end of the day. It's way too early to know right now but CC is already pacing at 50 goal seasons under MSL.

He literally outplayed Hedman and Makar in the SCF. Byram and Caufield are both superstars.

Really? I find that hard to believe tbh. In terms of points? How much ice time was he getting? Was he playing against top competition? My memory is a little hazy regarding that, but I didn’t notice him to that extent. Enlighten me.
