Oh, that’s too early right now to say. If we just compare to last year, it’d put him top-5. As for 40, wasn’t it Damphousse? Patch came close but yeah, he never cracked it. 40 would be awesome for CC.
Indeed it was Damphouse in 94. Damphouse again and Turgeron came close close in 96 but other than that, Pacioretty’s the only real goalscorer we’ve had in almost 30 years. It’s exciting to see Caufield light the lamp.

Even if he scores 49, that might put him in the top 3 or top 5 and fall short?

I'd be happy with 40. Who was the last one to score 40? I believe Patch had 39?

The difference between Caufield and other forwards we got is he gets to open space to shoot it in scoring opportunities. Others get to open space so they can pass the puck. Why? Cause their shot sucks.

Having a shot like that does wonders. Keep shooting bud! No fan or teammate will have a problem with that. Hopefully others take note and work on their shot.
Richer maybe?

OK... very premature but can Caufield win the Rocket? His goals for playing with MSL prorated over a full season is 49 goals. 22 goals in 37 games.

Is he better than last year?
Is he playing with better talent?
Is he going stay healthy?
Is he going to be a focus by other teams and they play him more tighter/physical?

Going to be interesting to see what kind of season he has with Suzuki.
I'm sure he'll be perennially in contention going forward. But it seems like this year he'll even be in the mix. Feels like he's arrived.

The question marks he had in his game when drafted have been answered now. He's more dynamic than ever which means that all the draft day excitement for getting him will be justified. He has a superstar pedigree and all he's done since being drafted is get better. None of this 'we'll be lucky if he's a Cammalleri' stuff anymore. He's gonna be the first forward superstar we've had since I started watching and that was 88-89 (87-88 I wasn't a Habs fan) which is beyond insane but here we are.

I was wondering earlier tonight where Caufield ranked for goal scoring since MSL took over as the coach in Feb, so I had to go take a look. He's been keeping company with some pretty damn good goal scorers since MSL took over for goal scoring.

Finally, someone we draft reaches their ceiling potential. Drafting from 2017/2018 seems to be much better.

Caufield is impressive. No doubt about it. Remember when there was Caufield+ for Laine talks?

Richer maybe?

Richer came to my mind as well. Probably it

You heard it from the man, Caufield is a PP specialiss.

(Suzuki one PP point, CC 0.)

For some reason I still like Norman Flynn, despite many bad takes like this one. I also like Gaston Therrien, but Gaston has the most consistently bad takes, and can't listen to him. But Norman I'll still listen to.

Thank You Buddy,
You brought back a couple of good memories but overall a lot of miserable seasons. How did the Montreal Canadiens allow themselve to become so bad at scoring for so many seasons. :help:

Staggering to look at considering it's 32 years! Offense deprived

It's fun looking at that list seeing the names he's with,

It's less fun associating their corresponding price tags lol , 9mill, 11 mill, 10 mill, 4.8mill!, 8.5 mill, 900k, 12.5 mill, 12.6 mill, 7.1mill, 7.8mill, 9.5mill

Such a joy to watch him play. You have to go back to Subban and then Kovalev before him to find our last player that was this electric to watch with the puck.

The most encouraging part is he's been scoring in so many different ways. He's producing on the PP from the Ovi/Stamkos spot, he's scoring off the rush, he's getting lost in coverage in the offensive zone and scoring off one-timers, he's producing shot volume, he's scoring with backhands and deking, and he's rounded out his speed and passing to the point where teams have to respect his playmaking ability as well.

Ya he has some kind of problem with Suzuki lmao.

He said (translating)
"Suzukis is like a Byron, hes a small offensive player that won't bring much, a guy like Simmonds could really get you over the top"

Lmao come on
As someone living in Ontario and away from the Quebec sports media, are public commentators this clueless? Or am I being meme’d?

Me too. He just has that Montreal east-side vibe to him lol He sounds exactly like all the coaches I got in Minor hockey.

He's not wrong. Put Caufield only at 9 min of ES time and it would suffocate his production and "élan".
