No matter what Lindgren’s analytics say, there are always going to be NHL GMs out there who put value on D who play a gritty game and give 100% every shift.

He stopped being a decent partner for a top defensemen after all the injuries, but the Rangers have never really given him a serious look in a lesser role the last couple of years. It’ll be really interesting to see how he does in better suited minutes.
I’m sure Lindgren will look fine in a 3rd pairing role not being asked to go against top lines.

I like Lindgren, kind of a Dan Girardi with snarl. But his body can’t tolerate his playing style any longer. And ask any Ranger fan what they immediately think when the puck comes to Lindgren at the point…

Lindgren has had a tough two years, but he could turn it around playing fewer minutes on a better team.

Good trade for the Rangers. I guess not terrible for the Avs either.

I had enough of Lindgren this year. He never returned to form. He looks as cooked as people say. We have to find a better solution because he was most definitely a problem. Vesey is a whatever player for the bottom lines. Hasn’t been good the last year anyway. I’m okay giving those minutes to younger players.

Getting some draft picks back is great. We have virtually none in upcoming years. If Parssinen ends up being anything, that’s a bonus. I would’ve taken a 2 and 4 for Lindgren and Vesey without a doubt. Kempf is a throw in.

Before he was "cooked" what was lindgren like as a player?

This reminds me of the Lars Eller trade but with more upside. Everyone was saying Eller was cooked but he was okay. Played good iml and got himself a good contract in UFA and Washington still wanted him back two years later.

Looks like the Rangers win this trade.

In Lindgren, the Avalanche get a player with "intangibles" that hasn't done any tangible good on the ice for some time. A relatively young player to already be broken down from playing through just about every injury he ever suffered. You won't find any Rangers fans who think he'll regain his best form, but if he *somehow* did and re-signed for cheap, this trade would be a win for the Avalanche.

Vesey has a bit of skill for a fourth liner, and might thrive in the right place. Probably nothing remarkable, but he can fill that role, kill penalties, and could surprise with a rare goal.

For these players, the Rangers getting a 2nd and 4th seems fair.

If de Haan plays as poorly for the Rangers as for the Avalanche he can be the 7th defenseman if Adam Fox is healthy, giving Zac Jones his chance to finally stay in the lineup. As "depth" the Rangers probably like having him, but he doesn't need to dress. He stays if Jones fails to seize his chance (again).

And a player like Parssinen is worth taking a chance on if he's basically a throw-in. And if he's going to take Vesey's spot in the lineup, who was a healthy scratch almost the entire year until injuries to regulars. A low risk with decent upside for a player (Vesey) who didn't play all year and is reaching the end of a two-year league minimum deal after a PTO.
