I think Lindgren’s been a little better since he’s been healthy from the preseason broken jaw. That’s tough to play with that bowl on your face. And you can’t eat regularly.

But he’s still not been back to anywhere near his best.

Ah yes the great Malinski and De Haan pairing!!

Except Fox is a proven player and the Rangers fell off the face of the earth as soon as Lindgren was put on his pairing. He and Miller were playing great. You can pretend Lindgren isn't bad because he now is part of your team or you could you know trust the Rangers board that has said he has been one of the biggest liabilities on the team the last two seasons, especially this one. But of course now that you traded for him Lindgren is great! Once again, I'm sure he could be ok in sheltered 3rd pairing minutes but a second rounder for a player that's ok in sheltered third pairing minutes is a trade I make all day every day.

Georgiev was great for a year though. The guy's talent is amazing but a head case, like most goalies. Shouldnt have given him a 3 year deal but at least it wasnt 11.5M.
Was he better or was the Avs just significantly better? Pretty sure it's the latter. On weaker teams he gets caved in.

Good luck with Lindgren. He kills offense and the only reason he blocks shots is because he always gets pinned in the zone. He isn't tough as he always gets beat up. The only offensive skill he has is to dump it in the zone when anyone gets close to him. That usually ends with the other team getting the puck and clearing the zone His shot is also amazing. He either hits the goalie in the chest or missing the net. Oh and my favorite skill that he has is he seems to always get beat when any skater has a lock of speed.

Vesey is the better player out of the two. Honestly as a Ranger fan I could not be happier that he is gone. My least favorite Ranger since....well Georgiev.

You're kidding, right? Was the trade of Trouba here criticized as the Rangers losing? Was JT Miller for Filip Chytil considered a Rangers loss?

It's a big win because the Rangers got a pick in the 50's, which traditionally has a 5% chance of becoming an NHL player? <Cue the "but it can be used as a sweetener in another trade" responses>

It sounds like it should be a social media post.

"LIndgren traded for a 2nd...THIS IS HUGE".

Other than the contract the Trouba trade wasn't any better than this one? Literally the Rangers could have dropped Lindgren on the doorstep of the Avs and gotten a thank you letter from the Avs in return and it would have been a huge win. A 2nd round pick is only nothing when the Rangers trade an awful defenseman for him. If one of the darling HF franchises made this trade it would have been a GREAT trade.

I like Lindgren, kind of a Dan Girardi with snarl.
This sentence makes no sense.

My brain is broken trying to understand.

Lindgren should bounce back on an actual hockey team. Doubt he just forgot how to play at 27
It's not that he forgot how to play... It's that after years of hard play, his body is broken.

BTW, we got a 6th rounder for Bobby Sanguenetti who was a bust and a 2nd rounder for Lias Andersson who was a bust and drafted Jasper Fast and Will Cuylle two fantastic role players. A 2nd rounder does not have some amazing hit rate but it's absolutely a huge return for a guy that was a huge net negative for us. We have been drafting solid role players lately in later rounds like Cuylle, Edstrom, Berard, even Rempe has been playing fairly well. A 2nd rounder is an absolute steal for Lindgren.

Very small sample size but lots of Fox and Miller hate this season. But look at Fox with Miller before Laviolette put Lindgren on his pairing because he's a WARRIOR.

Wow and the Rags snagged the guy who’s ranked 8th in this stat?

Either the Rangers stole a stud in CDH or this is a garbo analytic to go off of. Probably the former though I’m sure.

The weird part is the Rangers do surprisingly well with 2nd/3rd round picks.

Buchnevich, Stepan, Anisomov, Dubinsky... Etc.

If only they could hit on a top 10 pick even once.

It's a small sample size like I mentioned earlier but it's actually one of the best stats. It's literally just chances for vs. chances against with the pairing on the ice. That De Haan pairing was probably a 3rd pairing that got a lot of sheltered minutes. Fox and Miller did not get the benefit of that. We were also winning quite a bit with Fox and Miller as the first pairing and as soon as the WARRIOR was put with Fox the team tanked. But yes you know better than Rangers fans that watch literally every game.

If your management were competent they wouldn't trade a 2nd round pick for him. And if he plays on the third pair and plays ok, that's still too much for what he brings.

Solid 3rd pairing dmen are pretty valuable actually. Especially if they fit a certain role that our existing depth cant. Taking away makar's PK mins would be huge for him long term.

I'll give you that he's decent on the PK and would be better on the third pairing than on the first pairing. But there's literally no world where he's a good defenseman.

Nah, probably just you.

You know better than me? If you knew better than anyone you wouldn't pretend that Lindgren is good. I know he's on your favorite team now but he sucks.

Ok... But we're talking about Lindgren.

The dude is left undefended by the opposition on purpose. I'm not even joking. Fox is double teamed and other teams just leave Lindgren wide open. This isn't an accident. It's an intentional strategy and Lindgren is always capable of a nice chest snipe or a shot wide that leads to a chance against.

Thats fine. Good luck with rebuilding using that 2nd round pick.

Your incompetent management signed him to 4.5M and plays him with fox.

I actually think the NYR got the better players and I like Vesey generally.

Umm Avs why..
