Many new Avs players have commented that it takes a while to get comfortable in Bednar's system so call me crazy but I think I'll wait a few more weeks to call this a lost trade.

Yeah, it's way too early to call this either way.

Personally, I think they are playing the long game with Parssinen. He's like the Nico Sturm acquisition except he won't roll off as a UFA at the end of the season.

I could see the Avs looking to add a guy at #3C that is going to expire at the end of the season (Evans, Toews on a 1 yr deal, etc.) with the idea that Juuso is going to be their #3C next season and beyond. For this year, he's an extra bottom-6 guy.

Gotta give him at least 20 games or so to get used to playing on this team - like with all new guys.

Is he going to be our next reclamation project, and we'll have a 3c for the foreseeable future?
I very much though so from the beginning. Granted, I'm f***ing biased because he's a TPS boy and I saw him play live for multiple times. But he really was good, and had a great rookie run with Nashville. Don't look at his draft position, scouts basically forgot about him because he missed like 1.5 years with a serious injury when he was 16 yo.

And if he actually turns out to be a decent 3rd line C, it makes Colton expendable.

Colton is expendable anyway. Drouin is going to be cheaper option for top six wing and Colton is too expensive to play 3rd line.

4.5 Isn't terrible for a top 6 winger, either. Right now, it's fine. If Nuke comes back, and we see him play wing on the 3rd line, then it's a big problem.
4M*. It's cheap for top six winger, but Drouin is better and most likely cheaper. It pushes Colton to third line. Third line winger for 4M is too expensive for us and while 4M 3C isn't a horrible thing, he hasn't been good in that role.

It is 4M. Not sure why I thought it was 4.5. He was good in that role when he was with Wood and LoC. When LoC went down, so did that lines production. Buuuut, at the time they were also forced into being our 2nd line because of the mass of injuries we had. I'm willing to give it another shot before we make a trade and waste more assets.

That's fair. And I agree, that line was good and fun to watch!

I have a feeling we might get an asset if we trade Colton though. Nothing crazy, but something like a 2nd or a 3rd.

I had to check again that 2nd goal tonight and indeed it was 2nd line with Pärssinen centering it. Casey had PP time before so understandable. Toews and Girard at the blueline.

It is a 50/50 faceoff on the Florida end which Avs manage to keep in zone by great effort from Lehky and Colton. Puck is passed to Girard at the blueline, Parssinen infront of the net but deflection is missed and puck goes to corner.

Colorado cycles in the corner with Colton and Lehky and then to Parssinen who smokes Balinskis turning behind the goal, gives to Colton who passes to blueline to Toews. Parssinen has gone around the goal to infront and masks Toews shot.

When have you last seen this style of forecheck play with Casey centering the line. Thats a damn good play from that group which led to a goal. Case needs to be better or play differently to produce more.
