and got a 7th back. At least there's an extra bullet in the gun.
Dood. 6’3”!

We’ll see if he’s a NHL player. Hope so, have been disappointed before.

But I still maintain that these depth moves are noise, compared to the problem of fixing Mittelstadt.

Maybe Mitts is in love and that's why he's been struggling so much.

If that's the case, I recommend a gameday breakup ritual a la Eddie Lebec - Carla Tortelli.

I dunno. These guys are human beings, not PlayStation avatars. Mitts may be just going through something that's affecting his work- just like the rest of us. We just don't have to work through it in front of millions of people. Or, in the case of Altitude+ subscribers - hundreds of people.

Guy is a helluva hockey player - we all saw that in the Spring. Get off his back and let him work through whatever it is.

Kadri had as bad, if not worse, year in 2021. People wanted him gone too.

I'm as frustrated as anyone, we will see if he can turn it around in time for the playoffs.
Yeah, we all have fond memories of Kadri because it ended beautifully. He was f***ing awful at times, not to mention that stupid hit that ended our playoffs the year before.

Yeah, everybody pining for Kadri only seem to remember his last year here. Certainly wasn't all roses the years before that.
Mitts had big swings in his performance last year after the trade, too. Performed bigly in the playoffs, so I'm not going to Rutherford him and wish they send him on his merry way because of one shitty month of hockey.

Yeah the year before our Cup all Kadri was doing was trying to deek around dmen or shoot wide of the net instead of using his linemates.

With that said Mitts needs to figure this out and soon. We can't go into the playoffs with him playing the way he is now. The first month he was winning ALL his battles, never losing the puck, and making great plays. ALL of this is gone right now but I still believe he can turn this around.

The start of our the cup winning season we were talking about needing to find a #2C because Kadri wasn't cutting it, and he would only effective if he was given bad linemates. Actually that whole offseason was full of panic and drama

Exactly. Memories are golden because we won, but it wasn't always pretty with Kadri.

He's been pretty good with Flames, but not amazing. His last season with the Avalanche was the career season. We need to keep that in mind too.

Again, though, Kadri was noticeable even during his slumps. He was putting pucks on net even if his shots infuriated us and he was battling physically nightly, winning draws, etc. The lack of production and the turnovers via dangling were infuriating BUT he was still more good than bad, even if it wasn't much good.

Mittelstadt for two months now has been literally useless. This isn't some rookie or 2nd year pro. For Jared Bednar to bench him and now demote him to the 4th line, his patience is REALLY wearing thin.

"Aika kultaa muistot", as we say Finnish. English translation would probably be "memories grow sweeter with time".

No, Kadri wasn't better when he was slumping. Arguably worse, because he took stupid penalties.

Yes, Kadri was better. He wasn't finding himself demoted to the 4th line or losing shifts during periods.

Even during his "bad" which I consider standard 2C seasons of 19-20 and 20-21, he had SC%/HD%/xGF% of 49/48/46 and then 55/55/55.

Now go look at Mittelstadt's numbers since November 1st. They're horrific. Nowhere near Kadri's "bad" years.

So no, memories don't grow sweeter with time.

I keep saying that Mittelstadt looks like Foudy did in preseason. I’m partially being a wiseass, but honestly, the comparison is kind of worthy. He is making zero impact, shift after shift.

Define slump? Because two months is a very long time for a slump. It's been 26 games since November 1st.

He has 10 points during this timeframe.

It's worrisome.
Oh I agreed it’s worrisome and I used the adjective bad before slump because it’s a longer slump. But I’m not going to take these 26 games and say he should call it a career or be traded. It’s all in his head and he’s got a pretty massive melon. I boldly predict he won’t snap out of this slump this year.

Totally agree with this. Having flashbacks of Jost
