What is the cap going up to and when?

You can't really budget for something not finalized.

If the cap goes up, and mikko is still available, I'd bet the avs make him an offer at a higher AAV.

But the time limit is right now, so they had to do something right now. Simple as. Maybe not the perfect solution, but not the worst thing that could have happened.
Yeah true, they had to have the contract now and they didn't. Can't wait until he hits UFA.

NHL salary cap projected to jump to at least $92.4 million next season, Bettman says | NHL.com

People were doing that after the Boston game proclaiming this trade to be a massive L for the Avs. So weird how the other part of the trade isn’t judged at all

Ahh, yeah, I expect a rough ride for both. Mikko is THE man now. He's never had to be before, and he's not in the best shape of his career (don't care what the f*** Finnish media says about his training camp stats).

Is there a video?

I just watched it on ESPN, sorry I'm not TMV. Didn't record it. I'd expect it to be up on the Carolina section of the NHL app at some point.

Yeah, "projected"

You don't increase to a "projected" cap.
Like yeah contracts are made with the current cap, but I thought its gonna increase. It won't increase Mikko's contract/affect it but I thought the cap will go.. Maybe I just lack basic understanding of how cap works lol

Early prediction..

Mikko has a Huberdeau like finish to the season based on that game alone. I know that's mean, but..

The dude has been a fkn passenger picking off goals and points for two years now. He's going to have to work twice as hard for every point now.

He worked his ass off that game. I'm not sure I've seen him that gassed post game in a while, and got jack shit for it.

There was not one hair on his head not soaked.

Welcome to what 12.6M requires dude.

I hope he makes me look stupid, but that's my Darwinian Army NCO evaluation of his first game combined with the past couple years.

Mikko only had to play about 18 minutes, which is probably better, but on the flip side, he had 0 points and they lost.

I also watched him get pushed around, fall, and make some dumb turnovers.

Small sample size, but probably going to be over-analyzed for a bit.

Wait so you're telling me that the players who just joined their new teams need some time to adjust and settle in? Shocking

I never said that, you said that. I expected these guys to get 5 points each in their first game and that includes not just Necas/Rants but Drury/Hall as well.

I doubt it, he’s probably going to start pooping out points there, just like he did here.

They have good enough players to get the puck on his stick and he’ll do what he does.

No, haha they don't, they don't have anything f***in close to what Mack does for his line.

He's going to have to create a lot more of his own chances.

Seen the same thing

Obviously they don’t have a MacK, I just mean generally they have plenty of talent.

It's not enough for him to float around and show up in the right spot to rip it, and he doesn't know their patterns well enough to feed assists with no look passes off the boards instantly.
