Ugh. I woke up immediately thinking about this. I feel so shitty haha. This is the part of sports that sucks. I still remember going to Colorado to watch the Avs play for Mikkos first game. Hahaha he was such a baby deer. The baby deer thing didn’t really ever go away but at that first game, I didn’t think in a million years he would ever turn into what he ended up turning into. A great player.

Well, at least I like the canes. I’ll be watching him this evening.

Drury wins face offs, smart player. Can play up the roster, but don't recommend for long term, better off 4th line to take advantage in situations.

I think Necas just wasn't a fit in Carolina for Rods style. Now the question is, will Rants Guentzel us.

Yeah sure, that's not too bad I think?

BUT, do we make it ground rules that this is an 8 year deal? Beacause if he hits UFA and the deal starts with 13, it's not the same.

That press conference felt like a wake.

I don't love the trade. I get why it happened, but I don't think you can look at the roster and say "they traded top end for depth."

That's the rub, we have Cale and Mack. We couldn't do that. You guys can pay him to lead your team offensively.

You have Aho, and they're close. If I had to guess you guys would have had a better shot than a lot of teams even in UFA. Now you have the 8 year weapon and Aho.

Certainly not the way it sits now. I get we got a 3c back too, but without an additional move, they got worse right now. Hopefully Cmac can make more big moves.

I have to say too. I’m getting real sick of this lando shit. There needs to be a decision made by him at the trade deadline at the latest to come back or ltiretire because they can’t keep living in uncertainty like this.
 
Hate to see Mikko go even though he has been frustrating this year but cap-wise I wanted him traded to balance the roster. I love this trade. Necas is not that big of a drop off and there is a good chance his numbers goes up a little here and Mikko goes down in Carolina. We'll see.

I absolutely love getting Drury in this deal. He is LOC's version at C. They should complement each other very well or you end up with one on each of the bottom line if LOC gets drop down to the 4th line when healthy which would also work.

Helps a lot with next year as well in keeping Drouin. We should be way better balanced to finish the season and next season.

I doubt CMac is done as well. There has to be more going on with CHI. That was way too much scouting just for what they got out of this deal.

The biggest thing is that they are cost controlled for next year. They make combined 8.25 million for 2 players next year. Mikko would make around 13m or so for 1.

Basically you could get

Necas
Drury
5 million dollar player

For Mikko

Definitely improves/will improve the depth.

14M was the rumor for the open market. That's what 12 and change on 8 years. That would be my prediction. If his bet is you win with 12s and under I think he's handing you his Avatar lol.

If 12.5m was fair and 14m is overpayment. 14m still works for us. I guess the hope is to sell him with Aho will be your center for your contract length.

It was 14M over 7 in UFA. Expect 12.25 on 8 years.

For us he needed to drive his own line for that. Which he's done in the past with Mack out, but hadn't done recently.

I think yall will be fine.
