I don't know about that, Drai got 14M X 8 and he wants the same thing. It was 14M over 7 in UFA. Expect 12.25 on 8 years.

Happy to do the bet for fun regardless, what would be your modified terms?Yeah sure, that's not too bad I think?
BUT, do we make it ground rules that this is an 8 year deal? Beacause if he hits UFA and the deal starts with 13, it's not the same.
They traded top end with the ability to now create depth. That press conference felt like a wake.
I don't love the trade. I get why it happened, but I don't think you can look at the roster and say "they traded top end for depth."
If Mikko signs for less than MacKinnon money with Carolina, I win. If it's more than that, you win.Happy to do the bet for fun regardless, what would be your modified terms?
However, if the bet basically is some form of: "Is Mikko in it for the bag? / Are Kypreos's numbers way off?", wouldn't the fact that Mikko gets to UFA sort of be a win for my side?
I don't think the Avs wanted to even go to 12M. That amount was still too much for the Avs considering Makar's contract coming up........and I agree with that.
When you are trading a top end player like Mikko, its almost impossible to really get value back that's close. The fact we got the Canes leading scorer, plus Drury, and picks, and cap relief is the best the Avs could have wished for.
Read in one of the main board threads that Necas wants to play C. If he actually can, while keeping up his level of play this trade suddenly becomes a massive W
He's already said he would take a discount to to sign with Carolina according to Dreger.Yeah, I agree. The only player they have given that 8-year deal that last to the players late 30's, is Slavin. And they got him at a paltry $6,4 million, or thereabouts.
Then again, I didn't believe they would trade for him at all, so what the f*** do I know?
They're also yuge on fancy stats, and I believe Tulsky in particular has done some analytics work on players regression in the 30's (pulling from memory, so don't shoot if I'm wrong on tjis one).
This could be the exception, though, both because it's alot to give up for "just" a rental and because Aho might show how americanized he's become and show up at managements office with a shotgun if they don't re-sign him
If he demands $14 million × 8, but will end up signing a 7-year deal with someone else on July 1st, I wonder who will pony up around $15x7 for him? Utah, maybe?
One from Mikko's reps and one from The Avs
they'll need it to get rid of MittsWonder what shit rental Avs will spend that 2nd round pick on.
They traded top end with the ability to now create depth.
The depth still needs to be acquired
When the Avs are healthy it should be Nuke on lime 1 with MackThis is fun guys, thanks for making news with us.
I’m very interested to see how Necas does with MacKinnon. People are speculating that because they’re both great skaters they’ll be natural fits next to each other. In my observation in Carolina, Necas performed better with guys who deferred to him and let him be the central play driver. In fact, when he was leading the league in points in the Nov/Dec timeframe this year, he was doing it primarily on a line with Eric Robinson and Jesperi Kotkaniemi. Necas is kind of diet MacKinnon, who also (at least in my observation, y’all know him better) tends to be the primary play driver and puck carrier on his line.
All combos are worth trying out, but it wouldn’t surprise me if instead of a dynamic MacKinnon-Necas combo on line 1, you end up with MacKinnon on line 1 and then Necas (diet MacKinnon) on line 2 or 3 with guys who are more comfortable forechecking, doing the dirty work, and deferring the puck carrying (Colton, maybe even Drury on a 3rd line, etc.)
I asked chatgpt if Lars Eller can create a rock so heavy that nobody, not even Lars Eller, can lift it.Wonder what shit rental Avs will spend that 2nd round pick on.
They added close to 2M in cap space for this season. They’ve created likely close to 5-7M in cap space for next year.Anything that happens next isn't a byproduct of this trade. Colorado gained only marginal cap space and no premium assets.
They traded probably the best player since Joe Thornton in 2005 and aren't any deeper for it.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Most arrogant guy on the team and it bit him.lol at Mikko being very upset. Perhaps he should be upset with his agent.

Next time a team offers you a shade under your best player and guy who put a tonne of money in your pocket, maybe you should take it.
Go f*** yourself Mikko. You’re a superstar. My favorite hockey team is worse. But you’re a greedy asshole. Held out once before until he became the highest paid player on the team which he was for almost the entire duration of his contract. Mackinnon’s new deal kicked in a year ago and for you and/or your agent to have the balls to request 1.5M more than that guy after all the money he made you is downright bullshit.
I’m really proud of Cmac today. The team is worse right now. I get it. But f*** Mikko Rantanen.
Seattle HurricanesWhich team will you follow after this trade?
