OK, wrong thread, but...

Mitts + Ritchie + both picks from Carolina = Miller?

I would absolutely rather have EP40, but see no way the cap can accommodate that $11.6M. They would need to jettison Wood ( and likely Colton over the summer if they can navigate his NMC.)

Drouin - Mack - Necas
Lehky - Miller - Nuke
Landy - Drury - LOC
Kivi - Kelly - Ivan

Miller is certainly a dickhead. But on a team with Landy, Mack and Makar, he can be pretty easily shut up.

I don't see any scenario in which Vancouver retains on EP40, with 8 years of that contract to go. But the line-up above gives the Avs two solid shots at a cup before Necas wants more money, and Miller becomes unbearable.

Really depends on what CMac can do with the $14 mil. If it turns into Necas ($8-9 mil) + Jones ($6-7 mil) that's a pretty good exchange that still provides high-end talent but adds additional depth.

I do think this team still has plenty of talent. They’re constantly undermanned. It would be interesting to see what they could be at full health.

They just can’t be done after this move. Even if 92 returns, you’d like to see an addition.,

Career year, checks the previous seasons. 298 points, in 411 games.
He hasn't come out of nowhere. He's been trending up for some time now. Even without his hot start to the season it's not like Necas is some scrub.

As I said earlier, it hurts to lose Rantanen, but getting Necas (+) back is as good as one can expect from such a trade.

Curious if this deal had something to do with "mental shake" of the team like we've been doing with goaltenders and now Mikko?

I do feel like the team needed fresh blood or new approach. It just wasn't working. Or didn't feel like it would work.

We talked about lack of depth for years. Maybe it's time for a different approach?

We are butchered with injuries. Get that right, and it goes a long way to improving us.

And this probably means we can keep Drouin. That's a positive.

Do people think Vancouver would be willing to trade in-conference? I suspect they'd rather send EP40/Miller out East than deal them to a team that is only 8 points ahead of them for WC1

True. We would definitely need to make the best offer.

People can talk about Mikko being lazy, but it really doesn’t matter.

What makes him great is his size and hands. If he had a great motor and could actually skate, he’d be the best player in the league.

The guys hands are incredible. Passing, shooting, IQ. Gifted.
If mikko had the motor and a bit more skating ability, im pretty sure the Avs write him that 14M cheque

Can you imagine Necas on a line with Mittelstadt though lmao one guy flying with the puck entering the zone and the other guy huffing and puffing having barely crossed center ice.
Put Necas at 2C. He has played center before. The trade will look better if Necas is a center

sucks losing Rants but I rather see them trading a player than losing him for nothing. I always hated that mentality so Im glad to see they changed it.

Necas is not a scrub. is cheaper, younger, can play center, has speed and a good shot... along with two picks and a good bottom six center, something they needed since Bellemare departure. not bad at all.

the way I see it, we now have a czech winger and a Drury center. I like that, brings good memories. can we bring back from Europe Cal Foote and Brendan Lemieux also??
