I've been listening to this podcast with Jimmy Murphy and Pierre McGuire, and I'll be honest... it isn't bad. I know McGuire isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he's fine here. The issue with him was that live sports isn't the time to cram the oral history of hockey into thirty-second bites.
I have grown to like Regis since he’s been off TV. The guy is an encyclopedia of random juniors stats and genuinely is passionate about the sport.

Oilers went full Rags with that letter

Over a three-game suspension...

I listened to Puck Soup the other day. Take a guess at how long they talked about the whole episode - McDavid, Myers, the game, DoPS - for. Like 5-10 minutes, tops. Meanwhile, the Edmonton media is losing it's mind over their franchise player receiving a suspension.

He cross-checked a guy in the face. You're getting the book thrown at you every time for that. Should he have only gotten two while Myers got three? I can see why some see it that way. But it's one(!) game.

Could you imagine if the Pittsburgh media did this every time Malkin was kicked out of a game, fined, and/or suspended? Jeez...

It’s a “rules for thee, but not for me” argument. Like you said he literally cross checked someone in the face. Lmao. McDavid has gone under the radar for sometime with some of his dirty deeds. Crosby, Malkin, and Ovechkin have had a microscope on them their entire careers. Maybe it’s because he plays in damn near the Yukon Territory and not the Eastern U.S. but, he’s gotten away with a lot of shit.

Oilers and their fans are gonna look back on this moment in July 2026 as McDavid signs his retirement contract in Toronto, and cry about how much they wanted him to stay in Edmonton and how much they fought for him.

What if his wife pulls a Pronger and says she only wants to live in the States. That would be greater imo lol.

So prior to the signing the contract last year, and now yesterday, Elias Pettersson was apparently minutes away from being traded to Carolina. I think there's no coming back from that - Van is probably going to end up trading both players as ridiculous as that seems.

Yeah they've handled things about as badly as they could've. GM and coach are calling out both guys publicly, the whole world knows they're both on the block and being shopped aggressively. I think they're probably both dealt by this time next year.

General manager Eric Tulsky said that the idea of trading for Rantanen came about in the off-season, and negotiations started to pick up until about six to eight weeks ago.
The Hurricanes were motivated to get the deal done and pushed to get it over the finish line over the last two weeks."We wanted to get him as early as we can," Tulsky told reporters on Saturday. "We want to have as much time with him on our team as possible."What also took time to get a deal done was that there were other options on the table for the Hurricanes to consider.
As Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported, Carolina was also in conversations with the Vancouver Canucks about a potential trade involving either J.T. Miller or Elias Pettersson.
"As we started to feel like teams needed to make a decision, that meant we needed everybody to get their best offers on the table," Tulsky said about the multiple trade options the Hurricanes were exploring. "And it was both on our side and on our counterparties. Everybody had multiple offers that they had to weigh and decide where they wanted to go.
"So, it was sort of time for everyone to figure out what they wanted to do, and this deal got done. I'm not sure what's going to happen with other teams but it is a complicated dance right now."
