Mikko is an all world talent, incredible player even when he is playing lazy. I don’t think you can pay him the 14-15 million he wants, especially with his trend the past two seasons where he spends more and more time coasting. I’ll miss the Moose, but I think this is the right move

There's no f***ing chance we're done. Friedman thinks we're still heavily in the Center market and actually did say its know the Avs haven't liked the Mittelstadt fit, so maybe they do move on that front. He(Friedman) specifically mentioned Nelson as a target he'd bet we're in on.

Necas, Drury, 2nd, 4th is pretty damn good for a guy you knew you couldn't afford and was going to be a UFA in 5 months.

But cMac could have gotten more if he traded him last summer.

Interesting tidbit - sometimes what happens is that the players in the deals house swap. I knew an Avs player’s wife bout 10 years ago and when he got traded, they swapped. Not a long term solution but it works short term.

Avs get Necas to replace Mikko and bring in a 3rd line center to make the depth better and push Kelly to the 4th line where he should be

Here's the thing, as much as I loved Mikko over the years, loved watching him develop and win a Cup, my attitude towards him shifted around the time of the Ismo call-out
I feel like that was when he became the frustrating, inconsistent effort player he is now. I don't think you can have that sort of player in your leadership group, especially without Landy around
It just seemed like he stopped giving a f*** and his time unfortunately had to come to an end

Bednar is next on the "his time is up" docket but they won't replace him until the summer anyway

Inconsistent effort or whatever, the guy is still 5th or 6th place in scoring.
