I saw our best players getting out of our zone and instead of carrying the puck as much as they can in offensive zone, they just dumped the puck once the central line was crossed, they went to the bench exhausted. Habs are not 'possession' puck team this year. It's that bad these days, it might get better, I dunno when. I can see we are still in the deep low moment of our rebuilt. Patience, patience.
Laine hasn't played a game but I don't think that if he came back 100 percent healthy that he would make a big difference. Center ice is where we are really hurting, there isn't really anything after Suzuki and he can only have two linemates so theres that. Dach was traded from a rebuilding team despite only being 21 years old and a third overall pick and it must have been more than just injury issues that led to the trade.
Dach is not in his 'game'. Looks like his last 2 years of injury slowed his developpment a bit. Hopefully he will get some of his game back, like Slaf last year and recently.

I mean, I guess he has? I have seen a few good games from him but mostly inconsistent play and the poor guy can't stay healthy. Even though Hughes made the call to him on air at the draft and people were excited by it, he also kept his cards close to his vest by giving him a short term contract. He didn't do that on a whim.
Hugo will make every attempt to add in the summer, Armia and Dvorak will be gone and we have 12 picks in the draft so you would have to think there will be improvements plus Demidov is coming. I expect a push for the playoffs next year and it might be under the guidance of a new coach.
If they don’t add veteran D to the lineup and keep this coach we will be talking draft in November 2025
That's what they want - we'll decide next year that it's good to tank for one more year to get a shot at Gavin McKenna, and then we'll miss out on him in the lottery and blame it on bad luck
Dach hasn't really shown much at the NHL level but for some players the 300 game mark is an accurate representation of what they are as an NHL player. He needs to find some consistency in his game, same as Newhook, 2 goals last night and needs to keep it up.

I like the value they got when selling vets (Chiarot, Toffoli, Monahan) and the draft. Not a fan of those failed project, albeit I was happy to get Dach at first. I never wanted to rush the rebuild, I buy into the mentality of cut the dead wood, you suck for a couple of years, draft your elite core and build around them after. From what has worked around the league, this seems to be a blueprint to more of less follow if you want to rebuild. IMO the project type trades were unnecessary at the stage we we’re in.
