The only way MSL would not be behind the bench until at least the end of this season is IF he decides to quit by himself. HuGo won’t fire him this season.

Many NHL superstars who tried headcoaching at NHL level failed and some quit.

Apart from Hutson what a bunch of lazy ass players.

Don't they realize that they play in the best league in the world where 0.00001% of players makes it.. and it is a f***ing privilege to be there, so show some heart and lève tes osties de patins at the salary you make..

Will Marty reward that effort level with a chance on PP1?

This team hasn't played any defensive structure for almost three years. Hard to flip the switch. Especially with a young defense. Going to take time for them to adjust. Why so many brain cramps in our own end and blowouts.

Marty had a punitive practice with the team today

I love Mathesons effort. As probably the best skater on the team, he's somehow last ? What a shit vet. Can't wait for the love affair to be done. I hate that man with every single fiber of my body.

Look at Mathesons effort level. He's an absolute puke. I hate that f***ing man.

Bob Hartley won the Jack Adams, Stanley Cup and Gargarin Cup (KHL)

Bob Hartley would be a better version of Jacques Martin. An experience classy coach with enough hockey IQ. Yep he won all those 3.
But Montgomery is the one with more recent nhl experience. Hartley takes it easy on the sofa of antichambre. Do he want such a big job like coaching canadiens? Not sure.

So ol' Marty had a bag skate at practice today. Good. But he better have been on the ice skating too because his "concepts" are the reason this team sucks so much ass right now. So get skating Marty! This is equally on you!

Holy crap the repetition of what I'm hearing from the main stream media that was initially posted here is astounding...

But it's irrelevant since HFHabs is not on the advisory board.

St. Louis should be fired. This is a results business, and the results are very poor. I understand that Habs are in a redevelopment phase, but the team isn't progressing, at least not fast enough. That is the coach' responsibility, and he should take the consequence of his poor job performance and quit. I'm guessing that won't happen, so he should be fired.

MSL is a strange bird. You can see it in his body language. Players sense that and will do whatever they can to get him fired. You don't want a lovable coach but on the other hand you don't want a coach that is an oddball that players dislike.

I'm not worried the lads finally figured out who goes where and when in the Dzone during that bag(ish) skate. :skeptic:

This is an interesting dynamic because there is no way that group is going to clue in collectively overnight if ever.
There is an awful lot of noise out there calling for a simplified approach to our defending.

As bad as we were outplayed by Toronto we did keep players to the outside and let Sam see the puck.
Our best effort was against Ottawa and once again we did a decent job keeping our net front clean.

How have we arrived to where we are at today from those early games?
It seems like the more time the coaching staff has working with the players the more confused they've become.
Seriously when your raw rookie Dman is the only defender who seems to get it and that only because of his incredible talent something has to change.
We were far better off with the hermetic approach we saw in camp.

We should see a better effort out of the team but I don't think it changes a whole heck of a lot on it's own.

Is a Bag Skate a New Beginning..........................Or The Beginning of the End?

Running around in our end, is our biggest problem...........a bag skate does not fix that.
Come on Marty, be better.

Bob Hartley is not the kind of coach this team needs right now. That has Patt Quinn coaching rebuilding Edmonton Oilers vibes.

Can bag skate your way into effort though. This is absolutely needed.
You keep repeating that the players lack effort. I don't see that as a problem. What I see is that players are slowed down by their indecision. They're uncertain about implementing whatever cockeyed concept MSL&Robidas want to use.

At the start of the season, I remember the TSN announcer talking to Johnson about MSL and Robidas deciding to use a new defensive approach.

Honestly it should be an 11pm skate and then a punitive morning skate. That's how they used to do it. I recall Beliveau recounting when the rangers had to do that after a particularly bad loss. If I was in charge, I would make them go door to door and apologize to all season ticket holders in person.
And risk having the infirmary swamped with injured players?

I know I have criticized MSL something fierce but I find it hysterical seeing two morbidly obese couch potatoes talking about MSL.

Bag skating will not help with his conceptions. He needs to read more philosophers.

It's like they can't win with some fans. The past few weeks it was all about the D zone coverage, they do well in that regard and the improvement is dismissed as if it wasn't the system working as intended and then you change the goal posts and bring up something different.
We have the worst goal differential in the east. The system is a mess.

We’re a rebuilding team though. Management may be using different success criteria than you.

Are the key prospects we’ll be counting on in the future progressing well? Is the development of those players going well? Ultimately those are the results they may be looking at.

Most people knew this wasn’t a playoff team coming in. So why would you fire a coach when you already know the team isn’t good enough to get there? The defense is super green and our second line center has had a rough start. Those are facts that exist outside the coach’s control.

The media only showed the skating at the end, but in LaPresse this morning, they mentioned most of the exercices at practices were focusing on defense despite being skating heavy. And they all did them.

Well minus Savard who had a therapy day and Matheson who was with RHP and the skating rehab trainer.
