I grew up with Brian Leetch. I don't remember Rod Gilbert.

There's people now that don't remember Brian Leetch. There's gonna be people before you know it who don't remember Chris Kreider.

The boomers had Sam Rosen. Gen X had Sam Rosen. The Millennials had Sam Rosen. Gen Z had Sam Rosen. The generation after that is gonna have Sam Rosen.

He has brought so much love and so much joy.

He's 76 years old. Don't take for granted what you have.
I remember a time before Sam Rosen. It wasn't bad. Of course Jim Gordon had Bill Chadwick (Shoot the puck Barry!) with him

I couldn't have said this any better.

Sam is the New York Rangers. He is to me and my father. Yes, Sam makes regular mistakes. So what. His passion and love for this team is something that can't be denied and it shows every second of every game.

Jones-Fox - 3rd pair got pinned

It's why I would have looked to a KAM Fox - Jones Schneider top4

That 3rd pair was brutal

4th line was just as brutal

He was a part of my childhood. Weirdly, he brings me comfort. It will be a sad day when he retires

It's why I had a soft spot for JD as well.

"We have a battle with Carolina right now for the No. 1 spot in our division," Zibanejad said. "We want it."

That is the complete opposite of how gallant prepared this team for the playoffs. Where every big game down the stretch we lost and he and they said didn’t matter we just are worrying about the playoffs. I love this. They should want to set goals and win everything. Win the division win the Presidents Trophy Win the Cup

Tell that to some Rangers fans.

I’m just about 62 and I’ve been watching NYR since you could only see road games on ch9 broadcast TV. I’m talking 1967. Hahaha. I certainly remember Jim Gordon, and I too love Sam. Jim had Bill Chadwick for a long while. It was entertaining. Hahaha.

Sadly, I remember before that when Win Elliott did the games. I suspect he was a drunk, but I don't know that to be true.

He used to confuse Giacomin and Gilbert when calling the game. I remember once during a stoppage after a great stretch when he told the audience to stop breaking the furniture in our houses.

He constantly told the audience that the word Hockey comes from the American Indian game of Hogee.

Even before my time, the Rangers radio man was Monty Hall, who most here won't know, but some of the old-timers will.

Ha ha. Funny incident on the F train going home after the game. Bunch of Rangers fans, specifically boys with their dad they get off the train and there is one Flyer fan and he yells 1994. I look at the Flyers game and tell him really? You’re going to go there when it’s been since 1975? He shuts up and leaves the subway. Then the train operator opens his door and is like was that a Flyers fan who was butthurt from losing, I responded back Yup. The whole car cracks up. Let’s Go Rangers!!

I went to a Rangers-Flyers playoff game many years ago. I think it was a playoff game.

Anyway, there was a brawl. During the brawl, the Flyers goalie mask came off. One of the Rangers tossed the mask into the stands. The crowd wouldn't give it back.

Took the subway home. After the doors closed a fan pulled out the mask and we went wild.

It's a trophy with zero meaning and near-zero import. It's produced the winner of the Cup 8 times in almost 40 years.

In the last 10 years - Zero Cups. None of the trophy winners even made it to the finals.

If it comes down to the last few days of the seasons, I would rather rest any players that are even a little dinged up than care about the trophy,

The defense last night was absolutely atrocious, even Fox was out of sorts. Miller and Schneider looked OK but not sure what the stats tell you. Scanlin was a level 1 bard that somehow stumbled into Mordor. Roslovic was absolute butt and should be the next one to sit.

Offensively the Rangers figured it out, but goodness every Flyer goal was telegraphed in slow motion.

On one of the goals in the 3rd, Laf has the puck in the O zone and was peeling back to the blue line. Instead of passing to the point man, he went too far and drop passed it to Fox who was forced to get it and got himself pinched too deep. Immediately went the other way for an odd man rush goal against. Bonehead plays all night.

They still won. Hockey is cruel
There were so many dumb plays like this. When they had the lead. At one point MIka & Panarin were in the offensive zone. Panarin whips a cross-ice pass to Mika thru 3 Flyers. So then Mika whips it right back to Panarin, thru the same 3 Flyers. Of course it got picked off & went the other way, leading to chances for Philly. Just dumb. And Vesey's shot on goal from a terrible angle that missed & zipped right out of the zone & created more Philly opportunities.

Their decisions were terrible. They refuse to just play in the offensive zone.

Indeed it will be a sad day.

They need to find another iconic voice like his. I'm not sure Kenny Albert is it. He's unique sounding, but, not nearly as exciting.

Yeah, it depends on the context.

If it's getting down to the last couple of days, and it's let's say, Vancouver, I would prioritize whatever load management we feel we need to do over beating Vancouver.

If it's Carolina, and you're affecting home ice of a very likely matchup, then I would go for it.

I'm going to root for the team to win and not do some silly "I hope we lose so we play this team instead" thing, but the team should do what they need to do.

The trophy itself is "nice," but it comes with home ice advantage no matter how far you go, which is of DEFINITE value. So it's a balance: can you rest guys who might actually NEED it while still getting that home ice advantage...
