Seriously. What Vincent was doing to those talented kids was a crime. KJ and others not put in any sort of position to succeed whatsoever. So relieved CBJ will be getting a new coach this season.
Yeah, wasnt exactly shocked when a new GM with no attachment made a change quick. Jarmo was the type to not admit mistakes and hold on to things too long

who says no?

provided Matheson re-signs (2 years left)
Here, I fixed your proposal to make it more attractive for the Blue Jackets.

(CLB/MTL) Kent Jack Johnson for Matheson + 2nd 2025 (worse pick PIT/MTL)

His -24 stands out like a sore thumb though...
But needs to be looked at under the context of nuance. The Habs were in anaweful lot of close games last year.Curious to know how goals where he was on ice were on the last minute trying to generate offense to tie a game? He would not have been asked to bank the puck off the glass.

You do realize, I hope, that this is basically telling us that if we're ever in a close game (and the Jackets were also in a ton of them last season) that Matheson cannot be relied upon because Montreal kept deploying him and they kept losing anyways, right? As though he's, say, not actually effective at preventing goals against, correct? Because that would be basically the exact opposite of what we need. As was said upfront.

I find Matheson's trade value fascinating.

Matheson's warts can be ugly. He was also top10 in Dman scoring, 3rd in TOI, and is signed for 4.875m for two years.

Essentially how much do you discount his offensive game because of his defensive deficiencies.

If he's not a good fit for CBJ then this trade isn't a thing, but I also think people should probably familiarize themselves with the player a bit more considering he is one of the top offensive Dmen in the league.

He has 1 year with more than 40 points. Collecting a bunch of PP assists doesn’t make you “one of the top offensive Dmen in the league.’

Our entire Dcorp is made up of mobile Dmen with a PP specialist itching for NHL time. 30 yrs old Matheson holds 0 value to us, we don't need to familiarize ourselves with him because it wasn't a CBJ fan who made this thread. It was a Canadiens fan who didn't familiarize himself with the team he was trying to make a proposal with outside of looking at stats.

A lot because what matters is how and when you create offense, maybe a team really likes him and gives up a late 1st.
