Last year Claude had a worse year than Chia, Chia got fired.

This year Claude had a better season than SweeNeely, Claude will probably get fired.

Sports are weird.

You really think Julien had a worse year than Chiarelli before the latter was fired?

I don't believe that for a second.

Chiarelli was fired because he had more excuses than solutions.

Now we have to figure out if Julien is part of the solution or if a new direction is needed.

Walk away , Quit same ****. Officially terminates contract.

You are wrong. It does not terminate the contract at all. He can quit as coach but his rights are still retained by the Bruins. If he signs with another team the Bruins would be due compensation. Similar to the Clippers giving the Celtics a draft pick when Doc Rivers walked away. Unfortunately, Bruins management holds all the cards.

There is no compensation anymore. They got rid of it this season.

Dear Season Ticket Holders,

Like all of you, I am extremely disappointed with the outcome of this season. We set high expectations for ourselves, and we certainly realize that you as fans share the same set of high expectations. It is our responsibility to ice a Team that you are proud to support and one that contends for the Stanley Cup year in and year out. I fully understand that we did not meet these expectations this year and let you all down in the process.

There are a number of important matters to address this offseason, and I wanted to communicate our strategy surrounding a few of these matters directly to you. All of the respective decisions will be made with a singular objective in mind: to improve our club in both the short term and the long term.

The first involves our head coach. Claude Julien is our head coach and will be our head coach when we return to action in the fall. Claude's record as the winningest coach in Bruins' history speaks for itself, and he is fully committed to leading the Team back to being a Stanley Cup contender. We recognize there are areas of our game and our roster that need to be improved, and we firmly believe that Claude gives us the best chance at on-ice success in both the near and long term. We are confident in Claude's ability to continue to make the necessary game adjustments while we work to develop players and re-shape our roster.

One of our objectives last year was to improve our salary cap situation, and through various trades and signings, we were able to accomplish this. We now have some cap flexibility heading into the offseason and this summer's free agency planning period. This will allow us to re-sign players or make competitive offers to free agents on the market that we believe will help our club.

Adding and developing young talent in our prospect pool was another key objective heading into last season, and I am very pleased with the progress we have made in this area. We recently signed four highly regarded players from the NCAA ranks, three of whom we drafted (Danton Heinen from the University of Denver, Matt Grzelyck from Boston University and Rob O'Gara from Yale University) and one player which we acquired via trade (Sean Kuraly from Miami University). We have also signed five of our draft picks from the 2015 Draft in Brandon Carlo, Jake DeBrusk, Jeremy Lauzon, Zach Senyshyn and Jakub Zboril.

Along with our 2015 Draft class, the depth of our organization as a whole looks very promising. We expect to continue this positive trend in June at this year's draft, with our two additional first round picks and six overall selections.

I fully understand the discontent associated with another long offseason! While no one in the organization is happy about that, we will utilize this time to properly evaluate all aspects of our organization, continue to address areas we need to improve, and take all of the necessary steps to build a successful Team for next year and beyond.

I want to thank you for your continued commitment to the Bruins as we count the days until October when the Team skates back onto the ice to better represent your passion as loyal fans!

All the best,

Don Sweeney

Bruins have issued a statement indicating that Claude Julien will return as Head Coach for next season.

Literally the worst news possible. This front office is a **** show. They have no idea what they're doing and they flit from decision to decision with no firm plan. It's all reactionary.

Same old Jacobs. As long as they sell out the Garden nothing will change.

Yes, because discussions that only have one view point are so riveting to read. :shakehead

Yet you keep coming back. You're approach 33k posts and it seems like half of them have come in the last 2 years.

Instead of trying to bring people over to your side, you tend to just mock and taunt people on the other side. Yet you wonder why people take the opposite viewpoint.

As it regards Julien, I am not sure how I feel about him coming back. At first I wanted him gone, but I'm not sure anymore. My brain just hurts.

Its a tough situation but in the end I think the Bruins did the right thing. The only reason you replace a coach is to get a better one. I just don't think there is a better coach on the market that improves the Bruins coaching spot. Claude is an excellent coach but didn't have the horses this season.

I grew up as a Red Sox fan in the 70's and 80's. You do that and you get used to disappointment...

I don't try to bring anyone over to my side. I just give my opinions and if people want to agree with me, cool. If they want to disagree, cool. I like talking about hockey and always have. When everyone is on the same page and agreeing, it's really boring, no?

Welp guess I don't have to change my avatar. Anyway I'm pretty passed off right now. Can't wait to see them screw next year up too. Maybe after three years of failure they'll get the hint

I am more concerned with how Sweeney will address the lineup than the coach. Julien is a good coach who drives me crazy with some of his roster decisions. But I think his strategy is usually sound. A new coach could be could or could be bad, but Julien himself isn't a bad coach...especially when it doesn't matter who he rolls out, it is almost guaranteed not to be a defender who makes an impact.

In the off-season, people were saying the Bruins would score less goals than 14-15 because of the loss of Lucic+Hamilton (they were wrong), that the Bruins had one of the worst D in the league (they were right) and that they would end up in the basement of the league (they were wrong).

The end of the season was very frustrating because they lost their playoffs spot. But the only reason they could have gotten one was because of Clode. Who could have done better with that mocked worst D in the league?

Hopefully, Sweeney give the team and his coach two more top-4 D this summer. This happen and Bruins will be back fighting for the top of the division instead of being a bubble team...

Glad Clode is back. Now get to work Sweeney!

So am I.

I give Sweeney props for supporting his coach, I was all over him about the way he treated Claude last summer so it is only right I give him credit now.

Me three. And I'll just reiterate that I don't think it was Sweeney treating Julien badly last summer. IMHO they've always been on the same page.

And it's not just that Julien is a great coach who treats his players fairly, but also that nobody who insisted on his firing could come up with a better candidate.

Watching the haterz' reaction is also enjoyable.
