We don’t score goals and really didn’t early on in season. Chychrun plays the most minutes in hardest situations and this may come as a shock we allow a lot of goals. A lot of goals. Why? Because we have 4x4th lines. Some of which are also not good defensively. Other than that we changed the coach and Chychrun’s d partner from last year moved on. We have a defense that has at keast 4 x AHL callups playing on it at a given time. We are not a good team. Chychrun is a brand new Ferrari sitting in a used parking lot. Oh and we have a goalie we picked up on waivers and a 25 year old rookie who was an after thought on making this team 4 months ago. So yeah when people say plus minus is a useless stat. This is why.

Travis Boyd is our top line center and everyone wonders why our few good players have shitty stats.

I don't follow prospects so I have no idea what their value is. But I did say that the Panther's trade is not as lop sided as most think. Late first means not much to me, and a goalies scares the hell out of me, and Lundell has limited NHL playing time, mind you, Florida drafts very well. The big ? for me is Knight. IF he pans out, this could end up being the steal of the century.

I don’t know much about Lundell , other than he is a two way guy not too flashy.. good away from the puck , always in the right place at the right time .. according to scouts.

I will be honest I don’t understand the hype , other than typical hf board word of mouth.

but the fact that BA not only likes but insists on him speaks volumes…
I just haven’t seen any highlights that stand out for me that makes me think he is much different than what we had in Dvorak..

however I agree 100% don’t bring in a goalie as a main piece.

Yep. Needs to be an offer you can't refuse, and that type of offer should look like an overpayment. There should be no pressure to trade Chychrun. If no one is willing to overpay then keep him. He will be a key piece of future playoff runs.

Retention is likely the key, here. A lot is being made of HRR and the Cap and flexibility over the next few years. Florida wants Chychrun because they expect to have a window that last three or more years. Chychrun at 2.3aav flings that window wide open and locks it in place.

Of course Arizona would love to keep more retention slots open. It would be great to get an extra pick here or there for guys like Kessel this year or Gostisbehere next year. But that just isn’t as important as maximizing the return on Chychrun. Getting your #1 target in a Chychrun deal trumps getting a little extra for Phil.

Agreed that Lundell, alone, is not enough. He may have a very high ceiling but is unproven. We are dealing with a very small sample size when looking at his NHL future.

Jakob Chychrun was a Norris candidate last year and is on one of the best contracts in the NHL. Ask for all the pieces they aren’t comfortable giving up or don’t trade him. Simple as that.
