Trying to rationalize hbk's prediction from CBJs perspective...

Out
Seth Jones
2022 10 OA
2021 32 OA (Nolan Allen)
Liam Foudy

In
Chychrun
Boqvist
Sillinger
2021 44 OA (Heimosalmi)

That's a pretty good net result for CBJ given that Jones forced the issue.

AZ gets
2022 6 OA
2022 10 OA
Liam Foudy

for Chychrun

Lundell for Chychrun isn't enough.

I don't care that Lundell is young and is having a good season. You'd think that he's 10 years younger than Chychrun by what some are saying. And Chychrun finished high in Norris voting last season.
I agree.

Of course, way back when I LOL'd at the idea of trading a #1 D in OEL for just Austin Matthews.

Whatever ends up happening this is a massive part of the Yotes rebuild. You have to come out with a high potential player. Absolute must. Can’t miss on this one.

My prediction? Lundell + 2023 1st + mid tier D prospect. I think if Lundell is included you aren’t getting your “3 first round equivalent assets”

If BA plays this right he can get max value for Chychrun and save his last retention slot for Kessel or someone else. In other words, take back cap crap so Chychrun goes at full price. It's not like we don't need bodies to fill out the roster for the remainder of this season and into next as well.

You weren't wrong. At that time both players were projected in the top 3 o their position and LD is more important than C.

I thinks AZ is leaking info to get teams to get their best offers in. Which means they will likely make a decision soon.
Somebody is feeding Marek as he's reporting more on Chychrun than the rest of his career combined. And he's reporting more than anyone else which is very rare for him.

Marek has been promoted with the popularity of the 32 Thoughts podcast. Now has 2 hours every day in a prime slot.

I know but he's usually the fluff guy with lots of Jr hockey stuff while Elliotte provides the NHL info. But in this one he's really driving the bus. He's either trying to move up the ranks or AZ is feeding him everything to try to heat up offers??

Someone is feeding him. Makes sense its an AZ source especially given Marek’s background with junior hockey and our Gm who spent a lot of years scouting junior hockey.

Why are we thinking this deal is imminent? Anyone able to answer that?

I thinks AZ is leaking info to get teams to get their best offers in. Which means they will likely make a decision soon.

Combined perhaps with the fact that he is back playing, scouts and GMs can go watch him live..... this is a window that can close very quickly with some Covid protocole or an injury.

I remember for years Nonis would float stuff to Dreger. Only after it was uncovered that they were related did the info kinda dry up, just a game they all play.

That would be okay with me, I guess. Miller is only 20 months younger than Chychrun though. And I think he’d be very depressed about being traded here. And so would Kravtsov.
Not real happy with it, just think that is the level of return.

I honestly think CBJ makes the most sense here as a trade partner. I don't think we get both 1st rounders like some are suggesting, but the later 2022 pick, Ceulemans, and Foudy (or something similar) seems very realistic to me. That allows them to hold onto guys they like in Texier, Johnson, Sillinger, and their additional 1st etc. They might not be competitive now but I don't think they are too far away. A lot of their young guys are already having an impact at the NHL level and adding Chychrun to that mix seems like a no brainer.

If teams are keeping their top prospects off the table, I'd rather have these guys take a swing at someone in that 8-12 range that they really like instead of settling for lesser prospects and a late 1st. Ceulemans seems like a solid prospect with added potential and hopefully Foudy could turn into an NHL regular.
