Oilers should beat that pretty easily and be glad to do so.

I doubt the Habs will be in on Chychrun at this stage. Why trade for a player when it's expected we will rebuild and when we exit that rebuild, he can walk as a UFA? Habs prospect pool is stronger on D than up front so this is another reason why I don't see a fit.

He's all yours if you want him and want to pay valuable futures to get him. Fits better to the Oilers direction IMO.

Habs trading for Chychrun and using futures to do it is almost like the Leafs saying they will rebuild and then they go and trade for Kessel. Horrible timing strategy IMO.

My thinking was that you always start the re-tooling from the back, Chychrun is only 23yrs old. I don't see Mtl for a total rebuild, if Mtl needs to add RHD etc. Mtl can than start the process of finding some better young and tougher power fwds by dangling players like Taffoli, Hoffman, Dvorak in other trades.

Lets say the Habs gets the 2OV or 3OV (we keep the 1OV if we have it)

Would 2OV or 3OV for Chychrun make sense ?

I mean Chychrun is only 23 year of age.

To Arizona: Caufield, Jordan Harris or Norlinder, 2nd Round '21, Kulak (depth def)
To Mtl: Chychrun, 3rd Round '21

where is Guhle?
'Yotes need to be tempted by overpay, not merely 'made whole',
they are under no duress to move Chych

Habs are not going to make a move like this when we are probably heading down a rebuild road. If they do, it would be a dumb move like the Leafs saying they will rebuild and then they go trade picks for Kessel.

wow that's pretty bad for Arizona. They will get at least 2 top 7 prospects and a 1st rounder.
Not knowing much about Montreal's system but I would say something like

2022 1st rounder
2023 2nd rounder
Caufield
Guhle
Tuch

And again, not sure of the valve for Guhle and Tuch. But I know Arizona is going to want a HUGE haul for him especially that he's locked up at a great number.

Are you crazy? That package worth a lot more than Chychrun.:help:

3.5 seasons to ufa

Not sure if you caught on but it was not about his value. It was about timing of the Habs rebuilding and when they would potentially re-surface again as a playoff team. Chychrun is not a good fit with the Habs at this stage if they head towards a rebuild.

Wow that's pretty bad for the Habs. You just doubled down with a bad trade idea with another one. Both on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Save yourself some time. Habs are not going to trade for Chychrun at this point in time if we decide to rebuild. I have seen a few Habs fans try trade ideas but most of us feel that we will not be in on Chychrun.

How so?
Unless they send Broberg and Holloway in the same deal, none of their other prospect are that close

Your well documented dislike of the Oilers notwithstanding, Broberg would probably be in such a deal. I doubt Holloway would be as well. The Oilers would be giving up their best LHD prospect but get a great player already in the NHL who plays the left D position. That fits more in their time line.
