Maybe but I don't know if that will work necessarily.. Anderson is a shooter off the rush, so dumping in and cycling doesn't really work for him. Hoffman and Caufield are also soft spot and rush shooters. Caufield could succeed here because he's so elite but I don't think it works with Hoffman either.

It will be interesting to see but it looks like a fatal flaw to me.
It would be better if we had a pure playmaker coming up a la Suzuki that we could pencil in instead of Evans as the 3C . Farrell might be the guy in a couple years I guess.

Kidney maybe.

That's definitely the thing I'm fixating on.. good job replacing Danault but we are now left without anyone who has the potential to be a playmaking 2C behind Suzuki.

The conditions are there for us to be in a position to pick top 10 - so there's a chance to get lucky for Wright but maybe even Lambert, Savoie, McGroarty, or Geekie.

I've never been impressed by Dano in his own end but that's just me.
Not just you........don't get me wrong Phil has been a nice shutdown guy, and will be missed, but not as much as some would have you believe.
I think collectively the group of centres we have now, will be absolutely fine......Evans has the speed and the game to cover a top line guy every bit as good as Phil.
Not popular with some, but just my 2 cents......

I don’t want to badmouth Danault because he did a great shutdown job, but he also had Gallagher who finds a way to be on a 30G pace regardless of which C he plays with

It's true we don't have a ''next in line'' hopeful future top 6 center anymore now, it's a pretty big hole in the prospect pool/depth chart . I'm not a big fan of drafting for need but it might be smart to pick a few centers with some tools in the next draft. We'll have to pick them high too , first and second round ideally.

One thing to note is that Dvorak has been one of the go-to PP guys in Arizona the last 2 seasons, and both years he has gotten like one third of this total points on the PP.

It's probably likely he won't get that same in Montreal. So I'd say that some of the point predictions here might be little overzealous.

Also, by far his most common 5on5 linemates in the last 2 seasons were Garland, Kessel and Hall. After that Crouse, Kessel and Schmaltz were very even. So I'm not entirely sure where that "he will have better wingers in Montreal" narrative comes from. It's not like Arizona buried him with offensively inept grinders or deployment either (his o-zone faceoff % was over 50, for reference Danault was 44%).

I like his last name

Kind of sounds badass

Looking at how and where on the ice Dvorak scores his goals, I would try him with Drouin. You can make a case for whatever right winger to balances potential weaknesses. Galagher? Armia? He seems like a good fit with a more playmaking winger. He likes the slot and scores his goals close to the net and has a quick and precise release. Toffoli might also be good - you then move Anderson with Suzuki and Caufield to add size on the line.

I really don't see Hoffman with him... unless it's on the PP.

Anyway, just suggestions. We'll know more when camp starts. Haven't read the whole thread.

Fun to lose both Danault and Kotkaniemi for someone who, if we’re lucky, will be a bit better than Danault. Bergevin and Molson and everyone in the team organization should be fired. This is a fiasco all around.
Not really tbh. It would have cost 6M$ for 6 years to keep Danault here, THAT would have been a fiasco.
Can't really control the fact that the Canes offered 6.1M for KK either. And to know that Bergevin had a deal in place right away for Dvorak (and a great deal nonetheless) shows fine management.
I don't really understand the overeaction about Bergevin because of both of these things that he didn't really have much control over.

One thing i really like about Dvorak v KK is we instantly become heavier in strength.
He plays with power, in the mould of a true north american. While KK showed signs of grit and edge, Dvorak already has it. This instantly makes us tougher and adds a nice dynamic to our F group.
Barring injury, if Evans can play like he did against Winnipeg then I will be happy with our C group.

agree...

Dvorak+Evans = 21 goals for 5.5m$

KK+Danault= 10 goal for 11.6m$

so twice the goal production for half the price

Interesting eh...............I just think the habs will now or should be now focusing on winning games, vs the old trying not to lose games......I think we play a little different game next year, and we may just play with the puck more, in a offensive style of game....not run and gun, but just by scoring more goals, which our PP should be a huge help there, with the addition of Dvorak, Hoff, and Caufield....

I think people will like Dvorak a lot, 38 pts in this sh*t offense that was ARI will easily be 45-50 pts here

Nothing is guaranteed but I also think there is untapped upside.

Plus I'm liking the reports that he's solid both ways and very well liked by his teammates.

Hope he can have a 10 year career in Montreal and age like Jeff Petry. Petry came here at 27 and his new extension takes him through his 10th year as a Hab. Hopefully 25 year o km d Dborak can play here until he's 35.

He was an offensive force in the OHL despite having booster numbers due to the fact he played with marner and tkachuk. I think he has untapped potential

Poehling could.. but we'll have to see how he does this year.. this guy is so underated now.. Give the guy a chance. It's the perfect time.

I've never seen that potential in Poehling and it certainly hasn't come out recently. He has only been overrated by the fan base.

I don't know he finished the year very strong in the AHL.. also he had his concussion and also his attitude isn't the typical hockey guy.. didn't really helped him in his early days in montreal but maturity and experience can make a lot of difference he has always been a playmaker he might not be fancy but his game can be very efficient and simple yet found teammates at unusual spots.. I think he will surprise a lot of people when everything is said and done.

But hey I may be wrong.
