Player Discussion Chris Neil

I think it just seems like they are out there a lot because of the fact that every shift they take is a giant dumpster fire. The Habs have a ton of speed up front, and as a result Gryba and Boro are being cruelly exposed for their lack of speed and skill. The problem is that we are already playing our top four as much as we can, and our third pairing has to play sometime...

Maybe it's time to bring in the Wideman

I say next season we go with

Methot-Karlsson

Cowen-Ceci

free agent- Boro

Gryba and Wiercioch can be traded away or cut for all we know

Just wanted to throw a bump on this thread to say that Chris Neil has been playing some pretty dang good hockey so far this season.

Watch this clip from last night and you can see it on his face how much this meant to him and the team. Great leader.

WHat more can you ask for from a fourth liner?

Neil is bringing it. Looks like he could play another few seasons

When you play less than 10 min a match, you accept your role and play in a system. Even the old 4th liner are going to look better.

Props to Neil, accepting his role on this team and playing well, for now !

its as much as neil accepting his role and having a coach that is limiting his ice time and putting him in situations where he could succeed so major props to boucher

unlike last year where we would get scored on and then our 4th line is coming out to take the draw...

Geeze, this just made me tear up all over again. Say what you will about Neil, but the guy has always been one hell of a class act.

Chris Neil has been unbelievable for us this season. I'm very proud of the way he must have worked his backside off to be able to contribute in a positive way every game. Way to go Neiler!!

Totally agree. Just wanted to note that Boro played less than 10 min last game also.

No PK time. When they play 10 or less( around 12 for boro ), i have absolutely no problem. They are doing what they are asked.

It's really nice to see players utilized well.

Neil has been playing great all year so far, and it's been awesome to see. The guy is an Ottawa Senator through and through. Too many so called fans on this site refuse to eat crow on a player or admit when a player is proving them wrong, when that's what we should all hope for. Lie Tragedy said, guy is an unbelievable leader on this team. He's going to be a lot harder to replace than most are willing to admit.

I hope Ceci and Phaneuf keep making me eat crow.

But most of all, keep kicking ass Neil!

4th line looked really good against Edmonton - Neil included.

Neil looks fine in his role at the moment.

As long as Boucher doesn't pull a Cameron and put him in spots he's not suited for, he'll be a very serviceable 4th liner for us this season, IMO.

He has looked OK to start the last few seasons but inevitably picks up injuries or becomes worn out after 15-20 games and is far less effective.

Hopefully they have the good sense to rotate him out of the lineup once a week to keep him fresh.

Exactly.

Boucher is using Neil exactly how he should be used, and Neil is playing the role he was given exactly how it should be played.

If he can play the entire season like this, then I have no complaints about him.

Chris Neil has always been amazing for this team. One of the great Senators without question and a player we might not ever see again in Ottawa or the NHL.

Neil is a throwback player, him and EK are the only 2 Senators that could of played hockey in any generation, on any team, in any year, playoffs, finals, no matter what the circumstances. (Stone probably as well)

Isn't it nice to have a coach who puts players in a position where they can succeed.
