Reminder Trouba and Fowler had positive value
What's the return look like?
Freddy is a UFA. What about Beecher?I’d think Frederic and a 1st / lottery protected which would be funny cause last time he was available I think that was a rumour
HEY!! We will have none of that logical thinking here, this forum is for trade proposals made by the people who appear to be residents of Arkham Asylum.Cap going up will open up options for a lot of guys. They only really negative value situations are ones where a guy clearly can't play in the NHL at all (like Campbell), and/or there's too much term attached.
And his AAV really isn't that outrageous ... the cap increase alone will cover his salary beyond this year, you can always either accrue enough for this year or send back an expiring contract, and you're highly unlikely to find a better UFA at his price point ... Any comparable scorer is probably going to cost much more, with longer term into their twilight years.
That would never have got you Kreider when he was a rental. B's paid more for a broken Rick NashI’d think Frederic and a 1st / lottery protected which would be funny cause last time he was available I think that was a rumour

I would argue that Kreider is also broken.
A 2nd round pick would be a fantastic deal for the Rangers. You’re not wrong but you have to admit OPs list of “Available” is insultingly bad.
The entire team has fallen off a cliff and he has a back injury. He’s still an elite net front guy and I guarantee a change of scenery with a little improvement in his health and he’s right back where he was. He’s a physical specimen and the furthest thing from washed. just stop. Also only two years left on his contract thats not “awful”….Mika on the other hand…..Not hating being realistic. He's fallen off a cliff this year, on pace for 32 points. 6.5M cap hit until 2027. Woof
Not physically like Nash was. The guys a freak of nature physically.I would argue that Kreider is also broken.
Maybe. But I would argue that it's a small sample size this year so a little quick to make that judgement, and he's still scoring goals at a pretty good pace. It's not remotely a stretch to think that in a better environment where he's not depended on quite as much as he is on the Rangers he'd be really valuable ... totally see him as a guy who could come up big in the playoffs for someone. I'd be all over it if I were a Cup contender, and a late 1st would be well worth it, IMO. Teams often give that up at the deadline for less.
A midrange playoff team that's solid but maybe just needs a little scoring boost to move up a tier might also want to roll the dice on him. Not a ton of other options out there.
I'd also think that because of his relatively moderate term, cap floor teams looking for a short to medium term scoring boost would be very very interested, but his NMC would factor in there.
There's a reason the memo about his availability was sent out to everyone, and not just a few phone calls to playoff teams. He makes sense for a whole range of teams.
Zero chance the Rangers get a first from the Bruins.I’d think Frederic and a 1st / lottery protected which would be funny cause last time he was available I think that was a rumour
My Bruins stink at least as much if not more and have much less talent. Stilll think the Rangers can make the playoffs.
This team has done zero to make management have faith in them. They have folded up more times than an oragami swan in the face of adversity this year. You can't mortgage the future if the present isn't working out. That's how you doom your team to long-term failure.Even if they sneak in late, it means nothing; this is a lottery team disguised as a 1st round exit team.
I would want to wait to see what Drury does with the Kakko/Trouba cap space to definitively say they're not making the playoffs, but it's crystal clear they should not be adding to this group.
He started the year with 8G in 13 games. 127 goals the last 3 seasons. If you believe he’s close to being negative asset @ 6.5, then it’s safe to say you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. It’s one of the cringiest things I’ve read on these boards in awhile.A 2nd round pick would be a fantastic deal for the Rangers.
Kreider is 33, turning 34 in April. On pace for a whopping 30 points and makes $6.25M for another 2(?) years... He's pretty close to negative value quite frankly, unless the Rangers take back a small cap dump in a hypothetical deal or retain on him(Feels less likely to me but maybe not).
NHL fan boards are all about what have u done lately. That said, I wonder what his injury is that has affected his play and if there is any concerns about it long term.He started the year with 8G in 13 games. 127 goals the last 3 seasons. experience and name recognition goes a long way in the NHL.It's mind boggling that people actually believe Kreider is going to return a 1st
