Drury will threaten to waive him anyway.

I know you are joking, but to say it out loud… obviously Kreider calls bluff on that. The Rangers not getting back Vaakaneinen if the trade goes thru is a lot different than them getting back nothing for Kreider. Besides, Kreider has a NMC so Drury couldn’t anyway.

Moot because I would all but guarantee Ottawa is on his No Trade List.

That being said, I think Grieg++ is fair for both sides (only if NYR are adamant on a re-tool) but Ottawa would also need to shed cap for an in-season trade and that's likely an extra cost.

From Ottawa's perspective this probably needs to include Perron and Hamonic/Forsberg and it's not clear if Perron or Hamonic would waive their NTC's either (both closer to home in Ottawa).

IF Kreider to Ottawa is going to happen (and I wouldn't shut the door on it completely because he seems like exactly the type of player Staois would target) it would likely have to be in the off-season when a) both teams have more cap flexibility and B) after the Sens (hopefully) make the playoffs and prove to Kreider's camp they are a team on the upswing.

It's hard to guess his real value around the league. He's still on pace for 30 goal (barely), but everything is currently going wrong. He's clearly not helping. (I think his back is hurting and probably needs time off from playing). The powerplay isn't working. How much of that is Kreider vs the entire team, vs the structure, vs whatever issues are occurring? I don't know. Going from 36 assist to 1 screams a lot more than "he's old and washed." Kreider isn't a speedster like he use to be, but he can still skate. He just doesn't skate.

It's a sample size to compare to last season. (a lot can happen in an offseason, but speed aside, he skated and kept himself in the higher percentile among his peers...). Zibanejad went from a percentile of 98 to currently 85. I think it's more than just washed up players in an off-season.

Chris Kreider was scratched today, and you know what that means since the same thing happened to Trouba and Kakko. What offer would your team make for him that would help the Rags?

Rangers won't be selling high. With the current production and cap hit I don't think there's a huge market. In another thread a 2nd + prospect was laughed at. Expecting a 1st+ without retaining or taking cap dumps in return, I just don't see it. I also didn't see them unloading Trouba and getting value so there's that.

I’m guessing verbeek will be asking Trouba today about Kreider. Ducks are desperate to add in a top end goal scorer

Jesus Christ 🤦‍♂️

So, you want to trade for a 1LW, and only willing to give up a 2nd round pick, a failed former 1st rounder, 2x poor goalies that NYR will never need & 2x bottom line cap dumps?

OP is not good for the rangers but id be quite surprised if they could find any team in the league that values him as a 1st line winger.

I think the rangers could do better than they did on the Trouba trade but not a whole heck of a lot.

He's better than the 1 assist pace he has put up this year. Still, on the cusp of 34, what we see now is closer to what a team can expect moving forward.

Maybe you can get jack eichel for him since kakko was off the table bc he was worth too much 3 yrs ago….ha ha. This thread is classic rangers overvaluation again… there’s a difference between a first liner on a down year in their late 20s or mid 20s, and someone who is 33/34 and obviously declining. A second round pick and a middle prospect and maybe a cap dump is what the worth of that player is. Not the same situation but when players like this fall off a cliff, they fall hard… Look at Skinner from Buffalo. They do everything wrong, but they were right that he was toast.

11 goals, 1 assist, 12 pts in 30GP....

I don't know if anyone should be ponying up a lot for a guy with term producing this at his cap hit but let's see.

There’s likely to be at least one GM out there who sees it as a problem with the situation and not the player. And that GM is probably right.

I would normally say that this is a player with very little value due to age, salary, declining performance, and atrocious effort level.

With that said, the Rangers managed to find a taker for Trouba, so I'm sure there's at least one team out there willing to inexplicably bail out NYR with a second rounder and a prospect or something.

The two more years of $6.5 million is going to scare some away. He had 75 points last year. Is the drop this year a sudden drop off a cliff due to age or is it because of the circus?

His contract is awful and he's washed. He doesn't have much trade value. You should be thankful anyone wants to take him at that cap hit.
Can you imagine that NY fans do not want to understand that other teams do not have a need or do not have salary cap space for washed NY players?
