It tends to happen when he starts getting penalties for "running" goalies or manhandling defenseman. He hasn't been the same player since that hit from behind a few weeks back.

Agree 100%

Kid needs to be a bull. Hard to not feel terrible taking a penalty like that for your teammates, though. Even if we did come back and win that game

He needs to be an impact player every night. It's frustrating when he isn't.

Relegating him to the fourth-line mid-game though isn't really going to help. Hopefully he's flanking Stepan with MSL in Detroit.

How else is AV supposed to send the message that Kreider's constant floating is unacceptable?

There were instances last night when he was throwing his weight around which was promising but our forecheck was negated by their speed and he couldn't do much there. The board battle with Palat along the boards in the third looked like he was really trying to use his body which is something he hasn't been doing alot lately.

You don't think thats happened several times over the last several weeks where Kreider has been nearly invisible?

Can't say for certain either way, I'm not at practice. I'd like to hope so. This is a bit different though just because of the amount of time the Rangers have off right now.

Get some good practice in with his linemates, that's all I want. I think Stepan and MSL looked noticeably worse with Hagelin on their wing when Kreider was out the other day. I think he's a good fit for that line. I do wish he had one more good forechecker to work with though.

Perhaps I am misremembering, but a lot of times I remember Kreider getting in deep but not having the support to keep the board battle alive.

Could we put him with Nash and Brass, and maybe move Zuccarello to LW with Step and MSL?

Honestly, AV should sit Kreider down and tell him the next time he floats through a game he is getting scratched.

Sometimes Kreider reminds me of Eric Dazé . Dazé would have games where somebody would think he is a freaking superstar and then have a games like Kreider did last night.

Very interesting and I think spot on comparison. I was a bit young when he played but I remember Daze being a physical force as well (at times).

Power line.
With Hayes.
Instant chemistry and dominance with the correct RW.

His shot really leaves much to be desired. Most of his goals are deflections. For a top-6 winger, it would be nice to see him score on wrist shots, or score at all.

One of those games Hagelin was their LWer. Not Kreider.

Is it as easy as swapping Nash and Kreider?

Nash - Stepan - MSL
Kreider - Brassard - MZA

What most expected during pre-season.

I don't like Nash and MSL on the same line.

I really think we should just roll with Kreider and get him out of his funk.

I've gotta disagree with this, although most of his goals do come from deflections or in front his wrist shot isn't that bad, he's probably scored on that shortside wrister coming up the side with speed at least a half dozen times.

Do you mean in his career? I can't really remember him scoring like that any time recently. Most of his goals (if not all of them) this year have come from breakaways and deflections.

He's hit a huge amount of posts already this season, I feel like he's been gripping his stick a little too tight lately, he just needs to relax a little bit and just play

In his career yes not this season, I should rephrase what I said, I do agree that most of his goals do come from in front and on deflections because that's his mindset to get in deep and throw his weight around but disagree that he doesn't have a good shot.

Granted he may not use it alot because as I said he is often down around the net but he does have a hard wrister and a pretty quick release for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3zzEzLMrNc

Also agree with what Danrick said above, he's hit a few posts already this season, I think hes still trying to establish what type of game he wants to play on a nightly basis. Hes great around the net but that doesn't always lead to putting up points on a nightly basis, I think if he used his size more like Nash to shield the puck and get himself into the slot with it he could get some good shots off.

Haha I remember that goal. Dave Maloney's color commentary is terrible in that video, I think it was one of his first games.

Get Adam Graves to talk to him. Kreider shouldn't have to be shy about being bigger, stronger, and faster than his opponents. Does Peyton Manning call up opposing defenses before he shreds them like paper? Just go play your game, and make your opponents fear you.

It’s a rebuild.
During his draft year, I remember that the main knock on Kreider was that he would float at times and not play like a true power forward. That was one of the main reasons why a player with an elite combination of size and speed dropped to the 19th pick.

He was a good pick for us, but I don't think he's afraid of using his size or any of those other diagnosis. The tiger just hasn't changed his stripes, and that is why AV has relegated him to the lower lines. Hopefully, he will learn to play as the pro he could and we need him to be.

I think we need some patience with young players - he will bounce back eventually. :)
