What if he gets his bell rung again tonight? That won't help either.

Thats something that can happen tonight or 3 weeks from now.

If hes fit to play, he's going to play. Saturday's game should be a wake up call to JG to try to push something forward ASAP, but unless something is close or he isn't feeling well, he isn't sitting.

The guy is a manimal.

I'm mildly pleased after seeing him take that knock against the Wings that he was able to get on the ice for practice and the team (and I suppose he) are all in agreement that he's not hurt from it. Hoping he's okay and whatever the outcome (extended, traded, traded and then re-signing), it works out for him and for Ranger fans.

I read that Kreider was back in a regular jersey at practice today, is he anticipated to be back for your game tomorrow?

Here’s the thing, people keep posting about his potential— he’s in the prime of his career right now. He is what he is at this point. What he is would be a serviceable first line/second line winger on a bad team and second line guy on a good team. Nothing wrong with that but time to face the reality that his future won’t be better than his present anymore at this stage of his career.
Going to go with the assumption that players that are considered second line players on good teams are not going be considered as being THE prize as the TDL is closing in.

Because a desire to keep him and price are in a very committed relationship, what are we willing to spend and for how long?
It's hard to say because each of the max acceptable duration and price depend on what the other number is. More money is okay if it's for less time and vice versa.

If the rumor he wants to stay and is willing to take some discount to do so is true, I'd think it's possible to land somewhere sane.

He is going to be traded. As he should be.

I would be curious to hear the justification for not wanting to sign Panarin to his contract, but being on board with signing Kreider; from anybody who has been a member of both camps.

But that's the real challenge --- what does that look like and how big is the gap.

Going from $7 million to $6.75 represents a $1.75 million compromise on Kreider's part, if we're talking about a 7 year deal.

But if the Rangers are looking at 6x6, and even willing to go up to $6.25m annually, that's still a $500k gap and and maybe an entire season.

So now, despite compromise, you're still talking about two sides who realize they are $3.5 million apart.

Again, these are just placeholder numbers. My point is that while compromise is great, and we love the concept, it has its limits. So even with compromise, this could be about part more than just a desire to remain together.

Still think we should keep him. I'd move Fast, Strome and even Buch if necessary before Kreider.
id move Skjei to resign Kreider which should be considered. although I bet Kreider's return is more than Brady Skjei although maybe I am wrong?

Yeah, I don't disagree with any of that. I just think we have a number of more expendable players who we can save money by moving, not including young assets.
