That makes zero sense to me. He's a friggin rookie.

Typical Torts. No rhyme or reason. He just does things for the sake of doing them.

Maybe, just maybe, the coach for once puts the onus on himself and not the player.

Maybe, just maybe, Torts and his staff don't know how to help him improve. Nope, they just use the "go to hartford blankey excuse".

He's a rookie. If he's not doing anything wrong, then why the **** is he being benched with 50pct of the team isnt doing anything right?

It is reassuring to hear someone say he wasn't terrible, and from what I gather he barely got to the rink before the game, but managing to be on the ice for the only goal against, and none of the 4 goals for, still doesn't bode well. I can't say much for 1 shot on net, but you have to hope for, or expect more.

I'll have to try to catch the next game

Maybe because he has played like ****, been invisible & borderline lethargic? He had a slow start to the season with the bone chip in his ankle and hasn't been back up to speed. Let him go down and get top line minutes in the AHL for a few games.

Or maybe it's because he's been arguable or worst player this season, considering the role and minutes ha have got. Right now he looks, like Brooke said, terrified to do something extra. And it's not like he's a lethal hitter, face off specialist or anything in that department. He needs to find his self esteem, an

If he can't be a star among those scrubs, why would he succed in the NHL? Or does he need Datsyuk to feed him the puck?

Nash would have had 15 goals if all his great opportunities resulted in goals. They didn't, neither did Kreiders. And 4 great passes doesn't make him a star. Do you honestly think he's been good this far? I'm not saying he's been Bickelicious or anything, just that he seems to be struggling. There is a lot of pressure on him after being the playoff hero. Which player on the squad would you rather demote? Boyle I guess?

And I do think that being sent down might be the medicin. Look at Del Zotto.

Kreider has more points than Boyle, and can provide significantly more offense.

Boyle provides more in a bottom - 6 role though, I guess.

This move irks me because Kreider has been good in his past four games, one of the better Rangers players. Shades of pre-season Rangers the way Torts is making decisions right now.

And if Bickel actually does play over Miller tomorrow... wow.

What I'd really like to see is Miller sent down as well, and Thomas to come up and get his chance. Third line minutes and PP time. Pair him with guys like Boyle and Pyatt so his size isn't too much of an issue.

The reason Nash hasn't cashed in on his opportunities is Nash. The reason Kreider doesn't have more points is his teammates. That's the difference.

Sticky fingers said that Nash would have had 15 goals if all of his great opportunities resulted in goals. Him not scoring more goals is his fault. Kreider not having more assists on opportunities to Staal and Gabby that should have been money in the bank is the fault of Staal and Gabby. What's so ridiculous about this statement? Where did I err?
 
There are less players that refuse to produce under Torts this season for one reason or the other than the ones that met the expectations. We still love this geniuos head coach and patiently waiting for him to turn things around including this disgraceful powerplay.
 
If Kreider needs to play with the Marian Gaboriks and Derek Stepans of the world just to score goals, then he should not be in the NHL. Simple as that.

And Snowblind, that statement is ridiculous. If Nash not scoring is Nash's fault, then shouldn't Chris not scoring be Chris's fault?

You didn't interpret his entire statement. At the end of the day a player not scoring is his own damn fault and no one else's. Regardless of the reason why, blaming any one but the player is nothing short of ridiculous.

You're comparing goals and assists. If someone gets glorious chance and doesn't score a goal that's his fault most likely (I guess a great save and bad luck can come into play too). If someone sets up someone and that player misses on a glorious chance, the onus is on the shooter not the passer. It's out of the passer's hands at that point.

Excuse me, but since when is it's Kreider's job to be a playmaker? His primary focus should be to score goals, not rack up assists.

No. Not on these boards. Guys like Kreider and Miller are immune from any sort of criticism.
 
Torts the clowns pressure he feels to win trickles down to rookies like CK . Ck is not beyond criticism however his playing looking over his shoulder has as much to do with the short bench Bufoon that is Torterella as it does his own shortcomings . During his playoff last year Torts had him keep it simple , chip it up te boards and have him skate hard and take the puck to the net . This is a bad coach and a bad system for CK . He would be better off playing for a tactician rather than the screamer that Torts is . Him and his horrible system are ruining this kids developememt

Maybe you should just stop making excuses for a player who has been nothing but lackluster this year.

So torts ruined Staals development? And Stepans? And Mcdonaghs? And Del Zottos?

You know McDonagh the guy who finished what 12th in Norris voting? or Del Zotto the 22 year old kid who had 36 points last year? Or Stepan, our 2nd line center who posted his 2nd straight 40+ point season? or Staal the All Star defenseman?

That's hilarious. So if he has assists they shouldn't count or something? Assists are as good as goals. Do you want him to score 30 goals and 0 assists? How dare he help the team win and rack up assists! (Well would have if not for Staal and Gabby).
 
Torts apologists never cease to amaze me . He's accomplished nothing here .
