More than 10 teams are interested on Chiarot and HF GMs still say Chiarot will not fetch a 1st round pick. Unbelievable.

Get an interest and be ready to pay a high price, there a world of difference. Every team who are in position for playoff looking how they can upgrade so they will have interest on majority of player available... So at the end prob ably like

10 team + get an inrest on"
Hertl, Giroux ,Pavelski, Klindberg, Rakell, Copp, Lindholm, Giordano, Manson, Chiarot, ...

A team can get an interest on chiarot but chiarot is plan D if X, Y and Z doesn't work. So at the end that doesnt change anything to know 4 or 30 team are interested...

Chiarot for a 2nd*

*)Becomes leafs first if they win a playoff series.

It would be a fun deal if you're not a leafs fan.

terrible argument.

the Leafs didn't have any trouble preventing goals in that series.

they had trouble scoring them.

Interesting because Sandin cost them the series in my opinion. Is BC worth a 1st? Not sure. But if 5-12 teams are interested Montreal will likely get it or a comparable prospect. Toronto I think is going all in this year because they need to finally make a run.

You don't think there is much interest? What do you think he will fetch?

We always get hype around these type of player who supposedly catch huge returns because of intangibles.

lol I don’t doubt someone will antee up a first. See Chris Gratton, Kyle Quincey, Cody Franson, Nick Foligno etc. I just doubt it’s the leafs and more them staying current in the news.

When has a Dubas move ever been telegraphed like this one? Never. Good or bad we never know so it’s suspect

A -10 last playoffs!!!! Bad in every situation, except when paired with Weber, who made him look acceptable.

I'd be interested to see where you got that -10 stat. Every website I've checked indicates that he was a -6 overall, but maybe you have access to different information. Not that plus/minus is the best measurement for a player, but since you brought it up, here is a game by game breakdown of Chiarot in the playoffs last year. Looked to be a very solid player who had one bad game against Vegas, and struggled against Tampa in the finals (the whole team kinda did). Played some solid hockey, big minutes, and very physical throughout, right to the end. I can even provide you with an accurate breakdown (one that is factually correct).

Notice his hit totals and blocked shots? He's not there to score goals, he's there to make life miserable for the opposition and clear the crease. Played a ton of minutes as well.

But the Leafs have a lot of guys like that, so why acquire another right? With all their past playoff success, I'm sure they have the correct formula in place to win.

Your first will be traded this year. You have 2 years after this one before Mathews likely bolts. You want to jeopardize making a run this year for potentially another Lilegren/Sandin type prospect?
I love how you say this like it’s a fact.

Toronto will have over 30m in cap space when Matthews contact runs out and his home town team still won’t have an NHL arena to play in…..
So who is out bidding the richest team in the league with a ton of cap space?

TSN's Chris Johnston said on his podcast that some believe that the Leafs are the front runner for Ben Chiarot, he said they have been in on him from the start.

As a Leaf fan Ben Chiarot himself is not a move I'm against. He would make the Leafs better.

But I know I'm likely to hate the cost because I don't think he's worth a 1st but I think he will get it.
This makes too much sense to happen. Probably exactly what the Leafs need.

I mean they paid a 1st for Nick Foligno to do nothing but fight Perry. At least Chiarot can contribute.

I hate The Leafs but that was not their fault. No one knew before hand that he would get so injured.....

Meh, we heard that same nonsense in the Toffoli thread and he got a 1st +++

Makes sense. Toronto could use more dumb ass penalties. Or just penalties, in general.

His on ice contributions can be debated nonstop. What can't be debated is that Chiarot is in the box more than necessary.

Sandin legitimately lost us 2 games. 2 inexcusable plays, losing that foot race with that much of a head start was pathetic. Regardless done is done, he's gotten better cause of it.
